The Republic of California I: California > Texas

With Bynum, it gives Gasol a little bit more room down there. He definitely couldn't go at the Celtics frontline alone last year.

 Nicely played. Hope you guys aren't too burnt out from all the bball games today to catch my Blazers at 7:30. Man, this thread got straight jacked.

i dont get why people say CA schools show no love for in-staters. most of the matriculants to the UCs are from CA
Yeah, the UCs show a lot of in-state love. There are just way too many applicants.

So Cal is so much cooler than Nor Cal. Just wanted to throw that out there. Let the war begin :boom:

Wow what a bunch of great games today. I'm from Texas but my favorite team is the Lakers. My second favorite is still the Mavs ... >:)

Ryserr21, I've liked you so far... don't let me take out my machine gun, now.

Despite our rivalry, we own Texas any day.

Every girl who has been insanely good looking during my interview trail has come from California.

What the hell do they put in the water over there?

Man, I agree with you, the girls I've seen in the other states just don't look as good as California girls. I think that people in California just care more about how they look. We take care of ourselves over here.

So it's fitness and good nutrition that turns them all into statuesque blue-eyed, blond-haired beauties?

Seriously, soon as I can, I'm moving to Cali.

Good point, I noticed there are fewer blondes outside California... but actually I'm more into girls with darker hair. California girls with dark hair.

They put poser juice and botox in the water.

But hey, it's worth it right? The girls are pretty hot. The guys are pretty... The guys are pretty.

Oh man, I saw this one Cali girl who was like half-Asian, half-European. Dark-hair and eyes, and oh so beautiful. I remember distinctly thinking that she was possibly the most beautiful girl I had ever seen before. The next day, I went to a second interview and saw a second Cali girl who could give her a run for her money (plus a third one who was very attractive in her own right). It was at that point that I decided I was moving to California and, henceforth, referring to it as Eden.

Haha. We HELLA own Texas. (oh wait, hella doesnt sound cool when you use it in a sentence. For a second there i thought i was from nor cal, but alas, it was just a bad dream )

Book a ticket to Orange County. While I love Norcal, I will admit that Socal girls are hotter. OC has a lot of the half-asian/half-white mixes. And if you want blondes, go to LA.

I'll warn you, though; though they're good-looking, some of these girls do lack intelligence.

Hah. We can join forces, take down Texas, and decide what we will do with that vast amount of useless land. Then, while you and your Socal friends are getting your botox injections and driving around in your expensive cars, I will take over that dump you call Socal and ALL OF CALIFORNIA WILL BE CALLED NORCAL!

Haha. You havent gone south enough. LA sucks. But nor cal ain't got **** on san diego!

p.s. when it comces to sports i am a san francisco fan all the way! I was born in san jose and all my fam is up in the bay area, but i grew up in SD.

You're forgiven. I think you forgot to edit one of your sentences, though. The one comparing norcal and SD.

sneaky sneaky. The sentence in proper format is preserved forever in my original post.

thats a negative.

edit: play on words? socialist? meh.

Haha, yeah just kidding. California's just fine.

I like your govenator a LOT. No seriously. The best RNC speech of all time! I prefer Texas, but California's juuuussst fine. I'll leave you guys' thread alone so you can discuss medical apps and whatnot.

Haha this thread has been more like a civil war than a place to discuss medical apps... but to wrap things up, all of California is great and I would choose to live in Socal any day over Texas.

On to medical apps...

And Arnold is pretty awesome.

i'm from orange county, and whoever it was that said that we got the best mixes got it right; i go to school in the midwest, and i've searched far and wide, but i haven't seen chicks as fly as the ones back home

and WOOOOOOO HOOOOOO LAKERS WON!!! that seriously made my day.

Well you see, it's simple. Happy cows live in California. Happy Cows make better milk. Girls in California drink the better milk and grow in all the right places. California girls become hawt.

as long as you ain't a valley girl...

I second that man...I'm from O.C. and now I'm in Ohio...chicks don't even compare!!

definitely one of the best mixes. i think we have great women here because we are a diverse state and are slowly perfecting racial interbreeding to produce the best looking people.

I lived in Texas from age 10 until I graduated from high school and my mom still lives there so I visit from time to time. I've lived in California for 4.5 years and I love it here. I didn't bother applying to any Texas schools even through I would have "strong ties to the state" because I don't think I could ever go back. Austin was groovy and had an excellent live music scene and El Paso and Ft. Worth (other places I lived) had some positives, like dirt cheap real estate and plenty of all-you-can-eat buffets (a Texas staple).. but I'm willing to pay more for gas/rent because I love the progressiveness of California, the action, and the climate here. It's a better fit for me here idealogically... I'm a racially-mixed vegetarian (formerly vegan) liberal. 'nuff said. (also half asian half european.. haha...Retsage and Lukkie =) That's me on the Left at 80s night and my sister

Haha a vegan in Texas....thats awesome! I'm vegan myself, and I had to fly through one of the dallas airports. I was starving, but every airport restaurant/food place offered fat plates of ribs, pork, bbqd this and that...I was pretty upset, but not surprised. Luckily i found a subway or a quizznos way in the corner and managed to get a veggie sandwhich to hold me over.

My friend, you are wise beyond your years.

So Cal is the best place in the states.

Oh, there's no war. It's one of those things where SoCal thinks it has a rivalry with NorCal, but NorCal doesn't really care because it already knows it's better, and arguing the point would simply bring it down to SoCal's level

Norcal all the way. ^.^ The northern coast (and I do mean ABOVE SF) is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I live in Texas now... but nothing is better than my homestate, I miss it every day.

That's all the norcal beaches are good for... sightseeing. If you take a trip south you'll actually be able to enter the water.

 This is hilarious, because it's literally the exact opposite of the truth. I lived in Los Angeles my entire life, and never ONCE heard about a norcal-socal rivalry, until I went to northern CA for college. Have you ever seen a "socal" t-shirt, hoodie, bumper sticker, or tattoo? Because there's an entire brand devoted to NorCal. Talk about an inferiority complex! Believe me, we pay no attention whatsoever to northern CA down here.

Maybe this is why Texas gets it's own thread, and we don't: California erupts into civil war when we get our own. That said, either norcal or socal beats Texas any day.

:highfive: FIZZLE, it makes me very happy to say this. YOU....GOT....

And the score is....SoCal a billion trillion zillion....NorCal zero.

 I mean, I still like NorCal a lot, but I also think they pay much more attention to the so-called rivalry.

It's funny that you mention this, because I could say the same thing about the rivalry...I've been living in NorCal for most of my life, and I had never heard about this rivalry until college, when a bunch of SoCal people came up here for college and mentioned it. In fact, I hardly ever heard the term "NorCal" and only picked it up as a counter-balance to the often-thrown about term "SoCal." I guess it goes both ways :p

But oh man, it looks like I'm in the minority on this website. I'd better hide

there is no NorCal or SoCal, just a united republic of California that kicks every other state's ass :)

This has to be a joke. Texas people don't start posts comparing themselves to other particular states. Inferiority complex, anyone?

California women are notoriously good looking, but I'd invite you to walk around Dallas or really any southern college campus. You'd be very surprised.
And the college football argument? Seriously? The Pac-10 is vastly inferior to the Big 12, especially this year. But yes, Cali is an awesome state, just don't go around trying to compare yourself to Texas ;)

Might want to rethink your use of the word "notoriously" there, then get back to us...

Texas = :banana:

California---> :diebanana:

The big 12 has 2 legit teams: Oklahoma and Texas. I'm still not impressed with Texas Tech. Not that they aren't good but to me they haven't proven themselves as a powerhouse. Kansas is weak, Mizzou proved to be weak, Oklahoma State isn't bad but can't win the big game.

I agree that the Pac-10 wasn't the strongest this year but we still faired pretty well. SC is SC and there is no discussion needed there, Oregon is as explosive as any team in the country, Cal has a great program, Don't sleep on Arizona or Arizona State. Of course we have our weak teams like Washington, Washington State, Stanford, and surprisingly UCLA. The Bear Flag Republic still smashes on everybody!
