I've interacted briefly with a few administrators at my prospect schools on this topic...anyone here care to weight in?

What are the pros/cons to attending a research intensive college vs. a non-research intensive college.

Is there a difference in faculty commitment in the classroom?

Any responses are greatly appreciated!

I've noticed a HUGE difference in faculty commitment in the classroom from my research intensive university to non-so-much pharm school
i love the fact that their job relies on how effective of a teacher they are and not what they can discover.

Our lecturers are researchers or specialists, or retired researchers. There is one course coordinator for each class who sets up all the lecturers. Each lecturer will teach anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. We have about 2 touchy-feely courses each semester that do not have researchers teaching.

I enjoy the lectures of the current researchers because they talk about what they are doing. They always take part of the lecture time to do this. I find it very interesting and it is nice to just listen and know that it won't be on an exam.
