Hi Guys,

I seem to have missed the Cornell rejection letters two weeks ago, but I haven't received an interview invitation either... is anyone else in this position? Is there a hold-for-possible-interview pile? Any information greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

well at least, it's better than the rejection treatment...

I doubt they have hold...maybe it just got stuck in the mail...don't get your hopes too up....

Premed2002-

I've also not heard from Cornell. It's a pipedream school for me and I'm surprised I haven't been rejected yet (knock on wood.) I even wrote them an update letter in January thinking that someone on the admissions committee would read it, pull up my file, look at my average stats, and send me a thin letter. But nothing. I'm going to be in NYC in early March, so I'm thinking of calling Cornell and Sinai (still haven't been rejected by NYU, but I know they're done soon.) So, I'll let you know if I hear anything!

Good luck!

Same here, I haven't heard anything from them and I have been compete since October.

hey premed,

I am definately in the same boat. I have been complete since late October and nothing. It seems that at this point no news is good news (in light of the recent mass rejection mailings and all), but it's really starting to get frustrating. Good luck everyone, I'll let you guys know if anything changes. Ciao.

Same here. I was sort of waiting for my rejection letter a week ago but nothing came. I figure I should go over to Cornell and beg for an invite/rejection. Something is better than nothing.

dear premed2002

Don't fret, you could still receive a rejection letter any day. I just got mine today, and it was only dated 1/25.

I was really bitter for around 5 minutes 'till I checked my email and found another school asking for an interview with me. go figure.

Cornell has been giving me the silent treatment since early November...but you know what they say, no news is good news! Whatever, it's all about positivity!

:D

Could one of the nine above posters just call the school in the morning and ask them what's up?

Great, so we could still be part of that "mass rejection" by cornell. come on wit it jiggas. let me just get my switchblade first...it's under my boyscout badge collection.

:D

Hold on to your mailboxes, someone i know received a rejection yesterday 1/29. good luck.

I gave in and called the school. Here was the conversation.

DK- Good morning, I'm calling to check if a decision had been made on my application.
Cornell- We are still screening applications and will continue to do so until the beginning of March.
DK- Okay thanks. A few of my friends have been receiving letters and I was wondering if I would be getting one too.
Cornell- What kind of letter, we don't send invites through the mail.
DK- Oh no (with a chuckle) I mean the "see ya" type of lettter."
Cornell- Well, let me check. Give me your name, SSN.
DK- Okay. (I gave her my info.)
Cornell- No, the Committee has not made a decision yet. That's good news. Bye!

Well there you have it guys. I'll let you know if she was lying!

I spoke to NYU yesterday and if you have not been asked for an interview then you did not get in. They already sent out ALL interview invites

pretty funny conversation. i hope she wasn't lying. Cornell would be a kick ass place to study

Hi, folks. I talked to Cathy Cabrera, who processes the interview invites. She says they are behind because of AMCAS problems. Compared to other schools, who still relied a bit on their old computer software, Cornell had to do a 100% switch to the AMCAS web-based service. Literally she has had to download patches almost every week in order to get AMCAS to work. Yesterday she was going to send out interview invites, but she couldn't use the AMCAS software and had to type everything in all over again. She said they'll be interviewing until March. Also, invites are sent via email. Also, almost a 1/3 of the class comes in off the waitlist. It's a very active list. (I learned all this stuff during my interview.) I don't know anything about a hold preinterview pile. This year, they are going to choose 900 people to interview (this is based on their interview materials.)

Hey guys,

Well I told you all I'd let you know if anything changes and it has...I got my rejection letter today from Cornell. It was my first one thus far (definately not the last I'm sure) but damn, it really hurts. I mean, even when you apply to a school that you know is a stretch, it still does not make it any easier when that thin envelope comes and you read those words and get that awful feeling in the pit of your stomach while thinking to yourself ("I've worked my f*ckin a$$ off for 4 years and this letter is all I have to show for it"). Oh well, guess I just had to vent. My friends tell me that each rejection hurts less and less, so I'm looking to February, March and April with anxious optimism--whatever that means. Congratulations to those with Cornell invites! Take care all and good luck! Ciao.
