i feel like this is a dumb question....can anyone elaborate on the significance of the two digit score. who looks at it..why do we have it...is it what people are referring to when they speak of the percentile they scored in (i find that hard to believe...i scored a 92..and i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer)?

The two digit score IS NOT a percentile. You can calculate your percentile from the mean and SD though which should be in your score report. Somewhere on the USMLE website it explains the significance of the two digit score. Seems like some state medical boards like the two digit score rather than the three digit. The lowest two digit score you can get and still pass is a 75 and I believe an 85 is the mean.
