Here's what's going on: I'm taking the Princeton Review. I study, I practice, I ALWAYS feel I did well after I take the practice exams (during the class). However, those diagnostic scores are really terrible and embarassing (usually 5's). I got my confidence up when I practiced on my own with an AAMC test, I did great, about a 10-11 in verbal... but when I got back to TPR practice test, I failed the **** out of it. Is TPR test just too hard? I feel like the AAMC test was so much easier, and its killing my confidence. Please help. Two weeks away and I really don't want to get 5's! 🙁

One mistake i made during my Kaplan class is that i got carried away with doing all the kaplan tests back to back, and didn't give enough attention to the AAMC stuff. BIG MISTAKE. I can't tell you enough that you shouldn't get carried away with lower scores from TPR. Let AAMC be your real judge. In the last few weeks before my test, Kaplan released 5 new tests. Those tests were not actually curved well (and they admitted to that) because the number of people who had actually taken the test was very little. So basically, it was a sampling error in them getting their scores. Point is that I was getting 6 and 7's on all my sciences, when I really used to get 10-12 in the other Kaplan tests that had a well researched scale. So ask around if these TPR tests are new....that may be one issue.

Another thing I wanted to say is that stay away from anything that takes your confidence away right now. A lot of this test is about confidence. Do more AAMC stuff. Re-do it next week to see what you missed and make that stuff as much a part of you as is your heartbeat. Personally, I wouldn't touch the kaplan/tpr tests in the last week before the test, because really....although kaplan is great and so is TPR, their tests are NOT of the same caliber as AAMC.

There may be conflicting opinions on this, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Good luck and remember to not psych yourself out!!!

Hey sparkles,
We have about 2 weeks left before the exam, so there is still time for you to improve. The TPR exams are harder than the aamc exams (although I've never taken the real MCAT, I just conclude this from other posters' opinions). However, there should still be no reason for you to get 5's. I suggest you figure out why you're scoring so low, is it because you don't know the material? Or do you feel like you know everything already but just make silly mistakes? Or is it that you run out of time? Figure out what it is, and fix it. ASAP. You can do it! Good luck! 🙂

I took the TPR free online practice test and scored only 4 on the VR. I've just started studying MCAT this week, but get upset by that low score on VR. Does anyone has the same feeling that their free online test is also hard?
