During the mens short track speed skating they made a comment about Apollo Ono(sp?) our top speed skater who had an injury last year and because he saw an "osteopathic specialist" (take what we can get) he was able to recover much quicker than normal!!! cool!

I agree, it was nice to get a mention on tv but it would have been nicer if Apolo would have said it himself. Plus, I don't think most people understand what it meant...some of my friends didn't even notice and like previous poster said, I think most people thought it was about an orthopedic specialist...oh well.

yea you guys are probably right. He did stumble through osteopathic and then it sounded like he just threw in specialist after it because he had no clue what he was talking about....

Just a litle self depricating humor (which also happens to be true).
Before I became a health care recruiter I remember going to my physician and seeing a diploma on his wall that said he was an INTERNIST. I remember thinking that I should find a fully qualified doc and werent those internists supposed to be supervised. <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" />

Back to the original topic, I caught it also and was jumping for Joy trying to tell everyone around what that meant, I agree that it is a small little victory, but a great plug for the osteo world. I like Ano before, now I really am cheering him on.

Nearly everyone I know called me up and told me they heard that. I have been a little overbearing in educating everyone I know about Osteopathic Medicine. Anyway, to the nay sayers who are hopelessly stuck in a DO school, that should be enough to cheer you up and make you glad you didn't get in at your MD school of choice. ; )
