Advanced chemistry sucks, big time!!!

The fact that there are only 24hrs/day and that one needs to sleep.

P Chem professors who give you a 13% on an exam and ask you to retake it at the most inconvenient of times (15 days after the initial exam and 1 day before a huge paper is due). P Chem professors who assign a retest 15 days after the initial exam and pull the second exam forward 10 days so that his students only have 9 days to study 6 chapters of material. P Chem teachers who, when told that a student has a distant interview that will consume 3 of those 9 days, are unwilling to push the second exam back to its original date.

Thanks, I'll need it! I need to quit my job! My boss doesn't know it yet, but I'm not going to work next week!!! Hell no! I guess I'll dump that news on her tomorrow, right before I'm supposed to clock in. I need to take a couple weeks off. 😡

Hopefully she won't be pissed. 😀

I am in the middle of writing up old p-chem lab II reports that I should have written last year, but alas I was lazy and now I am paying for it. The f#$^&8n lab reports are ~50 pages a piece!!!!I don't know if this is common (lab reports being so long). Just 20 minutes ago, I just finished Determination of Hb and Fe in blood. Ohh, only two more of these horrendus labs left!!!! 😡 😡 😡

Things that DO suck:
1. Realizing that there are less than 2 1/2 months of college left, my only time to spend with my best friends of the past 3+ years.
2. Having to take 15 hours of engineering courses my last semester of college.

Things that DON'T suck:
1. Seeing Weezer this Thursday
2. Getting to spend 2 1/2 weeks of this semester at the beach (SB in Jamaica, fraternity formal in Florida, senior week also in FL.)
3. Getting in to my top choice med school, then the next day finding out that my roommate got into his top choice med school.

You're right TEDillard, TPR's verbal strategies do suck. They tell you to map things, but I realized I never find things by the stuff I circled. They tell you do skip around on the passages... I almost skipped an entire passage on the real thing because of that strategy. I wish they didn't pretend to have a real strategy. A simple "I don't know, you're on your own about that one" would have been nice.

We had to submit 12 fifteen page reports. When my prof wasn't happy with 2 of them, he made us redo them. So...in total, we had to write 15 fifteen pagers. That's 225 pages in one semester. I was in hell that semester!

I agree that doing worse on your second diagnostic is disappointing, but let me offer some perspective.

I did not take TPR, but Kaplan's course. I am sure my experience is not all that different from yours though. I did worse on my second diagnostic as well, but after continuing to work at the methods and practicing, I actually did better on the MCAT than I did on any of my 7 practice MCATs. Hope that helps a little. Stick with it and good luck.

I empathize with retaking the MCATs, I took 'em 4/00 and 8/00.

I empathize with writing PChem II labs second semester senior year. 9 x 20 pages = 180 pages + 2 x 20 pages for computational exercises = 220.

Oh, do you empathize with you and your boyfriend getting food poisoning Valentine's Day Weekend, throwing up on the security screener at the airport, and then having to fly home?

Oh, and for all those complaining about P Chem, has anyone taken Biophysical Chem lab? Man, the horror stories I've heard about that lab. That's quite possibly the most difficult course at my school.

So we had to write 210 pages of material, not 225. Big difference, eh?!? 🙄

EVERYTHING SUCKS!!! 😡 I want some time for myself, instead of having everyone else take it from me!!!

About the Biophysical chem, Papa Smurf...It's quite possibly the hardest class IF you don't consider the regular P Chem lab! The P Chem lab at UF is HELL!!!
