To those who used EK for taking the mcat before this years administration...I have a big question: Did the scoring on the end of class exams correlate at all with your final score...now I know we already know that these are pretty tough (with the exception of meanderson) and that they wouldn't correlate exactly with your final score but what i'm trying to ask is...for people who scored say 30 or in that range...was their a trend such as you were getting at least 8's on the inclass or is there just no correlation whatsoever. This is an interesting question I think and am looking forward to replies. Good luck everyone

Hi,

I am taking a EK class right now, which is being taught by the author of the books, J. Orsay, great teacher btw. When the students asked him about the scale he said to not take it too seriously, its just in there for fun. He also he actually debated on whether or not to take the scale out this time, cause it stressed out a lot of people when they scored low, but he decided to leave it anyway.

From my prespective, you can't really compare three passages in the bio book to the eleven passages in bio section you will face in the real test. Although getting good scores on those in-class exams certainly boosts your confidence. But still you should use only AAMC exams to get a good idea of what you will score.

Good luck.

Hi Wonderboy,

I am taking EK in brooklyn. I wish I could have J.O 🙁

I like my Bio/English instructure. I have to attend another lecture with the physics guy to see how I really feel about him.

How do you think the class is going so far? I heard that Jon is a great teacher.

Hey,

I am over at Adelphi, he's great. He teaches Bio/Verbal uses only the 50 minutes we are suppossed to have, but in those 50 minutes he goes over everything. And explains concepts that he knows students have a big problem since he's been teaching for 10+ years. I guys doesn't just lays it out for you, "you have to know this, and this, but this is not really tested that much on the MCAT." Is a typical phrase from J.O.

While for physics/Gcehm, we had our first class on monday. And the instructor, didn't know how to teach, kept making stupid jokes, and he was nervous. People complained to J.O. and now the guy doesn't teach for Ek anymore. We are getting a new teacher for Physics/Gchem.

The same thing happened to me when I took TPR, we had a horrible phyiscs teacher. But it took TPR two months to replace her, really sucked.

So I am really happy with my EK course.

I used Examkrackers books to prepare last year, and the tests at the end of the chapter were much more difficult than the real test. However, I highly suggest answering these questions and studying the questions and answers because they are extraordinarily helpful to help you understand the material. I didn't sit down for 30 minutes to actually take those tests. Instead, I read the question, decided if I knew the answer and then immediately looked at the answer so that I wouldn't just guess and end up remembering the wrong answer. I also reviewed these questions and answers again the week before the real MCAT as a review of all the material in that book. They're really great questions and make you think about all of the material that you've studied.
