I give up on time management. Its impossible. I stay up late during the week during my work, I have classes all day friday from 7:50 am to 6:45 pm. I use my breaks ( the few I have ) to do work, and occasionally get an hour nap, since six hours sleep is consdered a good night these days. So friday I went out and partied, saturday I rested, and all day sunday I did work and studied, but I still didnt get enough done. I did well on my first couple of tests (I think), but why am I always up so late eveery night??? Do I need to do homework on both saturdays and sundays? When can I breath??? 🙁 🙁
🙁

calm down...are you behind? just because it seems that way if your up all night. um...until you get all caught up you need to study on satuarday and sunday...not just sunday. Also, it could be the way you are studying. Are you using your time efficently with your study methods? or are you reading but not really understanding which may be causing you to use a lot more time? If that's the case, nip that in the bud by going to talk to the professor or TA so you can learn to study efficently.
Hope that helps...

how many units are you taking, how prepared a re you for the classes, how long are you working? maybe you could get a tutour, or make a study group? or ask your classmates how they study?

Ok, Im back.Thank you for the responses. Im only taking 16 units, but they take up alot of time because most of my lectures are short lectures three times a week instead of long lectures two times a week. I try not to study with my friends because I find that it kills most of my time. Im not actually behind, but thats kinda my point. It seems like to keep up with all of my classes I have to loose sleep. Im taking Chem 1, Bio 1, Calc 1 and an honors history class, which takes up soo much of my time with readings and papers. I am understanding what I read, and I've even given up television and dont go on the internet much during the week.
Don't get me wrong, I feel proud that Im doing well, but Im just wondering if its the price everyone else pays, or is there just a better way that I don't know about? Does ayone out there get more than six hours of sleep per night and still have enough time to attend classes, do work, study and participate in activities, and maybe party once or twice a week?

are you absolutely sure you're not wasting away your time (ie on the internet?) try making a study schedule for yourself and stick to it... plenty of people take 5 classes, work 25 hours a week, participate in extracurrics, and still get A's. i don't know your exact situation, but try photocopying your reading (or lug your text around) and read it on your way to class, in between classes, or even during your large lecture classes if you don't need to pay attention. take notes on what you read. i find writing an extremely in depth outline in my notebook while i'm reading helps much more that using a highlighter, because that way i have everything i need to know in one place when it comes to studying for a test... you can really cut down time by not continually skimming through a textbook.
also, in the chem and the math classes, when you study do you read the text over and over, or do you do tons of examples? i hope you do the examples after reading the text just once, because that way the stuff gets ingrained in you... be honest with yourself about what you do with your time. i know it's easy to waste time but tell yourself you're being productive. i do it all the time... goodluck!

Just my opinion, but maybe you are studying a little too much. Of course, my GPA is only a 3.5 and I am a senior. My worst two semesters were my freshman year when I did basically what you are doing. Got very little sleep, studied all the time, wet out on Friday's and sometimes Saturday's but you found me in the library the rest of the time reading and studying. I basically ended the year with a lousy 2.9 and tired. 😛 Since then I just paid more attention in class, took a long hard look at my studying and realized I was just reading the material but not really READING it, know what I mean? Since then my grades have drastically improved and with much less studying. Last semester I had Organic 2, physics 2, genetics physiological psych and cognitive development and made A's in all but Organic and didn't really study that much, maybe4-5 hours a week at most. Gave me time to work and just enjoy college. If I were you I would definitely take a look at how you are studying. You may be able to cut that time down by a lot and end up a much more relaxed individual. 😀
