Ok, first off I wanted to tell you all how I think many of you are gonna be excellent physicians, you guys have shown a great amount of compassion, sympathy and teamwork through this whole process.
I wanted to get people's input, regarding whether or not this is a time to panic. I have only received one interview to date, and my interview date is 3/12. Do you guys think a lot of schools are beginning to wrap it up for their classes. I applied really late which definitely did not help my cause, but I gave it a shot anyways.

Don't panic. Schools are still sending out interview invites, and panicking won't get you anywhere. It won't get you an invite...it won't get you accepted....but it might get you a headache...and it will give you something to do.

So if you want something to do, and miss the feeling of having a headache..then knock urself out...otherwise don't panic.

ucla,
somehow thru all the disappointments and heartbreaks, you always manage to make me laugh! thanx dude!
and yes, don't panic! just hang in there, and know that you're not alone!

Hi nray, welcome to SDN! :D

I am in a similar situation. I have had one interview in December and have only one more scheduled for March. I wouldn't panic, though, b/c there's really nothing we can do at this point. I also applied late (amcas oct 3, secondaries thru nov and early dec).

I don't know your scores, but if you have no faith in getting an acceptance this time around, you still have time to study and retake the mcats. I'll find out the decision from my first interview feb 15th, so then I'll decide what to do regarding reapplying.

I think you should be a little patient and see how things go. Practice for your interview with an advisor and get a critique...you want to get accepted from this interview!!!

I've been told that I'll eventually get in off of a waitlist, so I have a long wait ahead of me.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions or anyhing!

Good luck to you! :)

nray, obviously freaking out at this point isn't going to help anything. You have one interview already, so you have a decent chance of getting in, but you also have to be prepared for the worst. March/April/May interviews are pretty late and a lot of the time you are competing for wait-list spots. I was in the same situation last year (only had one interview in the Spring), and I would recommend that you start thinking of something to do next year, just in case you have to re-apply. If you think that you can do significantly better on the MCAT, then think about re-taking it, but since you have an interview, it seems that you are probably strong enough to get in. You may just have applied late or to not enough schools. In any case, good luck to you. I hope your interview goes well!

I agree with the other posters about not panicing, but thinking of a backup plan. I would also recommend writing lettters to your favorite schools and why you like them so much. I know of one person who did this and got an interview because of the letter (a very good interview, might I add). Some schools are almost done interviewing, so it might be time to give up on them, but others (I would guess maybe 20%) are going through May/June.

I dunno about the rest of the ppl here, but personally, I'm already panicking as I have not heard any good news all year <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

I'm panicking too. At least a couple of us are and that sort of adds a bit of relief.

Dr. Foxy, was it your BU interviewer that said you'll eventually get off the waitlist? That Feb. 15 deadline is nerve-wracking. Have you sent other letters or updates aside from thank you notes? Just curious. My interviewer told me that I can call him for questions, so I don't know if this is a good sign or a bad sign.

Welcome to SDN!

I wouldn't start to worry until March passes. Many schools will be interviewing through April and May. If you are that concerned, definitely start to work on a back up plan. Good luck.

Since it's panic time....has anyone here started thinking that they might have to re-apply next year? If I am re-applying I will definately have to re-take that awful exam again (in my case)since that would be the reason I didn't get any acceptance letters.

Do you guys have any plan A/B strategies (like showing up at a school for an interview that was never schedule and arguing with the receptionist that someone from that office called you two weeks ago to come in for an interview.....hopefully she/he buys your story & squeezes you for an interview :D ) to attract attention from schools and hopefully get an interview/acceptance?

God I hope I don't have to start thinking about a plan B. There's still time...

My acceptability letter from BU just said that the decisions would be sent out on Feb 15th, and yes I'm going crazy waiting! Especially becuase someone on SDN got accepted Feb 1st! The only letter I sent was a thank you note, and my interviewer didn't say anything about calling him. He wasn't very warm, but that's just his personality. When did you interview?
