Hi everyone,

Do any of you know how long Michigan allows to pass the MPJE after passing NAPLEX ?

I called and they told me the information was on the application. I couldn't find it and the person who deals with this type of request is out for the week

Thanks for your help!

I thought so too, but they told me yesterday, until I hear officially from them that I passed the NAPLEX, I shouldn't register for the MPJE. I'm not sure if that person knew what she was talking about though. The person who answers those questions is on vacation and no one else seemed to have much of an idea!! I know I passed the NAPLEX b/c I score transferred to NH and they posted my mark the day after I wrote it.

Most states have a rule that indicates the maximum time after passing the NAPLEX that you have to write/pass the MPJE. I just hope I get the materials/mark soon from Michigan.

Do you mind me asking what materials you studied? I could hardly find any of the Pharm laws on the Michigan website......

Thanks so much for your reply!!

I have never heard of that rule, at least for MI. MPJE is federal law dominant...get the book by Wiess "Guide to Federal Pharmacy Law"...I went to school in MI so for michigan law I used the book my prof gave us...whereabouts in MI are you?

Does it really take 6 weeks to have your application certified and have the board send your ATT number?

YEs this takes a while...I dont know if it is 6 weeks but I know it does take time...also make sure to apply for your pharmacist and CS license now because that also takes a while for them to send.

Also were there a lot of test dates available when you signed up for your test? I'm not sure how many testing sites there are in Michigan, particularly the detroit area.

Testing centers in Southfield, Troy, and Ann Arbor.

Also had a question about MI law and NAPLEX. It is really true that it takes 4 weeks before the Michigan board informs you of whether you passed or not? I saw this information on their website.

No, it takes about 5-7 days after you write your exam...goto michigan.gov/appstatus to find out.

I know nothing about MI, I am moving into the state and have no familiarity with the law. I know you said that it was federal law dominant but any help with resources for the actual state law? Any help would be appreciated as I am LOST![/QUOTE]

Good luck finding a job in MI,,,,if I didnt intern for my company for 4 years I dont think I would have found a job.

I'm not in MI. I'm in PA. I am getting my license in MI b/c it's "Canadian friendly" :) I am a Canadian graduate and they consider our hours equivalent.
Thanks for the tip on the book slowly707!

Hi guys,

I'm gonna pursue the MI license. I just started to look into the application process. I checked the board of pharmacy website but I can't find the exact website or webpage that shows me how to do it. Would you please do me a favor to give me the link. Thank you very much.

Hey, what is ATT number?

"I took the MI MPJE yesterday and it was so hard. I studied from jesse vivian's review of michigan law" --- Yes, Vivian's book is useless to prepare MPJE. Vivian just simply place the laws together in a VERY confusing and contradicting way. He did not make any effort to present the topics in a simple and clear way for MPJE!!! We are taking MPJE for being pharmacists, why do we need to pay money and spend time to read his book like this --- "Only a licensed, medical physician may engage in activities associated with the practice of medicine, ...... dentistry, nursing, etc" (7th ed, page 40. BTW, there should be no "," after "licensed" from the grammar point of view) --- this sentence is simply as stupid as it is!!! First of all, Of Course, the MD has to be licensed --- Even a plumber has to be licensed!!! Second of all, we are preparing for MPJE indicating that we already know that pharmacists have to be license. Why do we even care about the licenses of a MD, a dentist, a nurse??? Pharmacists are required to use "their professional judgment" when filling a Rx; Pharmacists are never specifically required to question the MD's licensure; And the MPJE is not going to give us such a question like this --- "Do a MD have to be licensed in order to write a Rx?". On page 86, Vivian told us that "The electronic form utilized in transmission of a prescription cannot include "dispense as written" or "d.a.w."; But on page 89, Vivian told us that "The electronic prescription must permit the prescriber to instruct the pharmacist to dispense ...... The indication that no substitute is allowed, such as 'dispense as written' or 'DAW'". I paid the book and in return, struggled with the confusing and contradicting concepts presented by Vivian.
