Starting a new hospitalist gig in ten days here. Any tips on what to focus on during the first few days? Also, those of you who are hospitalists, did you take your share of patients (everyone gets 18 for eg) on day #1 or did they let you ease into it?

For me, the biggest problem was just getting used to learning an entirely new EMR system and figuring out the hospital worked like who to call for consultants etc etc. You'll probably be naturally more conservative starting out in terms of how you take care of patients and maybe keeping them in the hospital an extra day.

We did an onboarding system so starting out with 5 -> 7 -> 9 -> 11 -> 13 and then full census afterwards

      Good luck
