Would any of you that live in NYC like to host me and lend me their couch for two nights while I'm in New York for my NYU interview? Hotels are over $100.00 a night! It would be greatly appreciated!!!

when are you going to be here?

I'd say don't go to the interview altogether. What I've heard, NYU isn't a very good dental school. Theyre offering interviews to almost EVERYONE that applies. I'm not kidding. I also heard that they have a drop out rate reaching nearly 50%. This is what I've heard from other applicants, but maybe they're lying and just want an open spot for them. I would advise you to do some research before putting in your time and money to go to an interview.

LucidDreamer,

You should do some researching on this website...this issue has been discussed 100x, and what you've heard are rumors, thats all.

Well, I might not have all the facts about NYU, but from what I've heard from people, its a leaning towards the negative side. I do know that they take in about 250 students
and that they're a private school ($300K). I sure wouldnt like to pay that much if I were to have to compete for resources.

Lucid,

Everything you've mentioned, I know and heard! I still want to see it for myself!

Simseema,

I fly into Newark International on Thursday, March 14 and fly out on early Saturday, March 16 morning. Interview is on Friday, March 15th!

Do you have a couch?

I have an extra futon in my living room. I live in an apartment w/a roommate, but she won't be here then.

Simseema,

I emailed you with your hotmail account!

if that doesn't work out u can find a place by searching thru expedia... i think u can get a place w/ a community bathroom for 35 bucks a night and take the sub to NYU =)
good luck...

yeah, I would try that expedia thing first...if things don't work out, give me a call.

Let me make it easy on everyone who thinks NYU is this or that in a negative aspect. Rest assure that this is a FACT...When you graduate dental school I dont care if its Harvard, UCONN or NYU..big name or bad name...You will find that a dental degree is only a license for you to be able to practice and learn more. I know this because I have WORKED at a dental office for the last 5 years and seen some of the best and some of the not so great dentists come in and out of that office. IT REALLY IS WHAT YOU PUT IN THAT WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT DENTIST. YOUR SCHOOL WILL NOT MAKE YOU A GREAT DENTIST. YOU YOURSELF WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT DENTIST. Just like we all did in undergrad, the school did not make us it helped but in the end it was the individuals determination that guided them to this point. I am not going to NYU although I did interview there and was accepted. I do not believe any of the rumors that some people say especialy since I asked several students when I was there.

I just think that it is sad that so many people on this forum like to only talk about a negative aspect of a school. Keep in mind at one point all of you including myself just wanted to get into A dental school. Keep your feet on the ground PEOPLE!!! LOL

UofM01,

you DA MAN!! tell 'em like it is. You and I should sit down together some time and write some poetry!!

It pisses me off when people spread negative rumors like this about a school.

Take care Buddy

From what I heard NYU is one of the top dental schools in the country, like top 15. NYU graduates are hightly respected by other dentists for just graduating.

It is an academically hard school, or why else would the attrition rate be so high compared to other schools. Don't you think so?

Post any opinions about this.
