I think that the Kaplan tests are designed to be harder than the actual DAT exam. This way, you are over prepared and therefore mentally confident on test day. I routinely scored in the 18's on those Kaplan practice exams but then scored an AA of 22 on the real deal. The only part that took me by suprise was the PAT, which was much harder than all of those Kaplan tests. I scored a 18 when I would usually score a 22-23 in that section. I had urinate to like a @#$#& during that section so I was also quite distracted.

However, don't take my advice too seriously and stop studying. It's different for everyone. I knew I was ready when I couldn't WAIT to take the exam and get it over with.

Goodluck!

When you take your friendly neighborhood chinese friend out to drink, he turns red with a sip of beer, and you bellow out, "it's because you lack aldehyde dehydrogenase dude!"

Good call preludexl!!!

When your walking around and you break every thing down to a science perspective...your ready.

when you want to shoot yourself in the face instead of opening the damn review book

Usually, how long would you take to prepare DAT if you are still taking "2" classes? I know it depends on people, but I would like to know in general. Thanks!

The longer you wait, the more likely you're going to end up psyching yourself out....

All you need to do is go over the material in one of those Kaplan books a couple of times and you'll be fine. I studied only 2 weeks and I did fine on the test....

When you start dreaming about DAT questions your ready.

Practice tests, practice test, practice tests! I cannot stress that enough. That is probably what did me in. I only did two practice tests and didn't cover it well, either. I went through the Kaplan Book 5 or 6 times, but the practice tests once.

If you have gone through the KAPLAN subject tests and all the mock DAT's , you will be fine. I thought I was not ready and I got 19/21. Not as competitive as the brainy next generation, but its in the zone. YOu kids keep getting smarter and smarter.!

Review the Kaplan book (forwards and backwards), and you'll be pretty much good to go. Take the practice exams in the book, and throw in the TopScore exams also -- but take these in the last 7-10 days leading up to your exam. Use the questions you missed on these exams to help you do last-minute studying.

Then take the test!

The bad thing about the DAT is you can always push the test date back. This rarely helps (unless you really have NOT been studying anything). I believe a person can do very well on the DAT with only two weeks of studying. Of course, that would be 2 weeks of studying 8-9 hours every day.

I set a study pattern for myself, which was something like 5-6 hours every day for a month. It worked out fine. Study hard and then get the test over with.

Good luck.
