The plot thickens... I just called USC and they dont want to push my interview back. They "dont have" any dates in December or January. I dont really believe this. So im a bit dumb founded on what to do.

Advice?

They're probably not prepared to address interviews that far yet considering they just started interviewing. Looks like you are back to square one with this decision.

I'd go. Spend a few hours at the school, then hit the beach.

I think I might withdraw my application from the school.

I put a list together can someone please proof read this and see if it makes sense?

-Expensive $110K in tuition
-Expensive living cost of LA (probably makes this school $140K / yr)
-PBL method doesnt seem to be effective and is a very weird way of learning the material
-The flight is $600
- I have 4 interviews before Dec 1 and 2 more after Dec 1
- I applied to over 20 schools, what is the chance I will get rejected from everywhere except USC? Doesnt seem to likely to me.

Advice?

If you think you can see yourself going to USC as a possibility, then go. If not, then don't!

This, pretty simple. OP seems like he hates the idea of going to USC so don't go. All this back and forth, people have given you advice and you're sticking to your guns about not going to USC. So don't go.

Why did you bother applying there to begin with? None of what you posted is exactly top-secret information about the school and the location. Seems like a waste of application funds and an interview slot that someone else would kill to have.

haha i know im being a pill. apologies to all my good friends. i guess i wanted to feel that someone would share my opinion, seems like everyone doesnt look at it the same way as me. im just concerned for the above reasons.

thanks for hearing me out.

Biggest factor. If you don't like PBL style (I know I don't), then it's hard to succeed there.
I would cancel only if I have ANOTHER interview in my hand. If this is the only interview I've had so far, I would go THEN decide later. :)

Okay Mr. Wizard with all your statistics. Do your homework next time. And be a man and make your own decisions instead of coming here for validation.

I can see where the OP is coming from about not needing to attend based on the number of schools applied and number of interviews so far. Go with your first instincts. They are usually correct. Works in poker, in sports, on exams, and just about everything in life. If you are confident in your candidacy and chances of gaining acceptance, then screw USC. Like they say, you can't take a horse to a well if it doesn't want to drink. At the end of the day, it's a calculated risk and skip USC if you feel good with your risk management/assessment skills.

Odds are, if you're a normal person and interview like a normal person, you have great odds of getting into at least one school given that you have 4 pre-dec interviews and 2 post-dec interviews. Depending on what schools and the interview/acceptance ratios, your likely going to be fine. However, most people on SDN are of the mind set "better safe than sorry." It would reallyyyyy suck if that 1% chance happened in which you didn't get in anywhere. It's what it really breaks down too. Best of luck!

thank you dmd and yohomey! I dont need to be degraded for picking against a school. And yes I am well aware of the fact that there is about a 1% chance against going to any of the 4 schools, but if factor in the other 2 post dec schools. I probably have less than 0.50% chance of not getting admitted or better yet a 99.5% chance of being admitted to at least one school. Those are amazing odds, imagine if the casino payed out 99% of the time

I needed the time to think about USC and its policies, a few months ago I thought I was fine with them, but after reading up more about the school I have decided to change my mind.

Thanks again for honesty and the support. Maybe i didnt need advice as much as support on my thoughts and yes I have heard of the overwhelming "better than sorry" cries from many people, but I'm still a "betting man" and I know why insurance companies and the lotto rarely pay out, thats because they calculate the odds and play the hand they are dealt. More than anything I have to go with my gut as yohomey said. I cannot lie to myself and force myself to go where I do not want to.

Thank you my friends! best of luck to y'all in your future endeavors!!!

Awesome. Now if only USC would give me your interview spot all would be awesome... le sigh

Also, if you force yourself to go, your disinterest in the school will show in your attitude and interview responses which the interviewers will pick up on. You would've been better off saving some money. It happened to me on one of my interview visits. Since the program was near the bottom of the totem pole, I was not engaged, a bit apathetic, no enthusiasm, spent more time flirting with the interviewees and had a hard time trying to pretend I was excited about being there. But I did hook up with a cute interviewee afterwards, no joke, so it wasn't a total wasted trip.

lol

I think from what it sounds like is that you would be wasting money by going to USC to see all the so-cal bros. So basically don't go! You'll get into other schools, and if USC is the only one you get into if you go to the interview do you really wanna go there? Doonntt gooooo, save the jet fuel!
