I was visiting stanford's website today and i saw that they claimed that stanford students owe less money than those at public/private med schools? How this the financial aid work, and how could stanford be less than a UC, like UCSF/UCD?

I don't go to Stanford for med school, but if I remember correctly from being an undergrad there, they offer significant grants and work study opportunities (ie, the 5-year plan -- many students use this to be TA's, research assistants, etc.) to substantially defray the cost of attending. That's how the ave. student debt can be slightly lower than for students at UCSF. I'm not sure they can make the same claim in comparison to UC-Davis though -- SF and Palo Alto are similiar in cost of living -- Davis definitely beats them on that front.
