I want to start out by thanking all of you, for volunteering your services. I have had my essay read by a few of you folks, and you truly went out of your way. Crazy_Carl, Laura, Deva, SMW, Jedi, Oldman, Praying4MD, (this is off the top of my head). . . . Michelys, and the many more that I have missed. Oh yes, RXFUDD. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

I have a strange request for you all. I keep seeing how a few of the regulars on the PS thread are having to correct 15-20 statents at the same time, and I can see that it's really becoming like a part time job. Do you remember doing an essay for me (or somebody else)? The amount of corrections you made, was awesome!!! Now multiply that 20 times. This is what some of the people on the thread are having to do, and my heart truly goes out to them. I know we are all busy, especially the ones planning to start life in med school very soon, but could you all please do one last act of altruism and help out people like OLDMAN and others, that are swamped???

I figure that this way, our statements will be corrected faster (which means we can submit faster) and also some of these folks may get a much needed break. What do you say? Also,it would be helpful to have more volunteers.

Ofcourse, all this is assuming you are not doing it already. Once again, thank you for lending your hand to those like us that are in need of some desperate help. God bless you all!!!

Yes, I'd have to agree that what these people are doing is quite remarkable. Thanks to everyone who is volunteering for your help! If anyone wants to exchange reading personal statements, please PM me!

I think you should PM Oldman or RXFudd to see if they will pass some on to you. Then, those people can inform the person who sent in the PS that somebody else is checking it.

Carl, you get the prize for being the first!!

Sent you a PM Crazy Carl. :D

TO THOSE OF US THAT ARE HAVING OUR PS READ:::

Could some of us please PM Oldman to let him unload some of the PSs he has? The considerate man that he is, he will not hand out any PS until we ask him to give ours away.

Come on..cooperate!! Let's make this thing a well-oiled machine. :D

Sure, bring on the PS's. Watch out, I tend to be critical though.

Bikini,
you gotta advertise your services in the other thread, so others can see that you're up for it.

Also make known that you are applying yourself; it may change people's opinions about wanting to submit to you. I suppose one would want a volunteer to have "been there, done it."

People can request that essays be forwarded to me via PM. I have completed reviewing the essays that I have received, and have time to look at others.

I would have volunteered a long time ago... but I heard you all only wanted people who have gotten into medical school (I haven't applied yet... I'm applying this summer).

But I'd be happy to help anyone who doesn't care that! :)

On my first MCAT I got an R in writing if that means anything to anyone :)

BUMP
Why are more people not responding????

Howdy! I'd be more than happy to help read any personal statements. I'm a soon to be 4th year med student and enjoy helping.

If you send an essay, please let me know if you're just wanting me to read it, comment on it, give suggestions for improvement, or proofread it grammatically--that'll help me know what you're hoping to receive help-wise.

Hi KUBrendan,
Thanks for the offer! There's a AMCAS ESSAY HELP thread that I am going to bump up for you. If you could please go in there and advertise yourself (say exactly what you said here), I know people will PM you. :)

Thanks for the nice offer. You're awesome

Sorry, I'm new here, so I wasn't sure where to post except as a response to your message. I did have 4 essays waiting for me when I got home, so at least some people are reading this thread. :) I'll try to find that other thread...

Thanks for your generous efforts again.

I only got one essay :( It was a good one though :)

list of current people volunteering for PS:
they are relatively free (well, compared to OLDMAN) so if you PM them, it *might* come back to you faster. I really urge you to use their services so we can unburden Oldie a bit.

ok so i'm using this as my own personal stage to get help! i need it though! i hate this constant pruning i have to do and the need to constantly get it under 5300 characters! is it driving anyone else nuts?

i'm all done except for one area in my ps--- can you just tell me if you like version 1 or 2.
version 1:
Yet as I neared my 3rd year with my account base full, I felt sadly empty. Even if I loved my customers, my days became complacent from the decline in challenge and the lack of any need to learn new things. Although I was a ?success? at CDW, that success was merely based on quotas and dollar amounts, and it was simply unfulfilling.

version 2:
Yet as I neared my 3rd year with my account base established, I felt sadly empty. Even if I enjoyed talking to my customers, I didn?t feel I was affecting their lives or learning anything new. Although I was a ?success? at CDW, that success was merely based on quotas and dollar amounts, and it was simply unfulfilling.

thanks for any input

Bump. :)

laviddee - I like version 2 better, but it needs one small change. "I didn?t feel I was affecting their lives or learning anything new." I think it should have the word "was" in front of learning. My $0.02. Good luck. :)

I'm willing to read some PS's. I got accepted to UCLA and have worked the past five years as an English instructor. Just PM me and tell me what kind or response you would like.

I'll do it. Credentials: used to get paid to write, work freelance as a proofreader. PM me and I'll give you my email.

everybody that sent me an essay, check your PMZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. :)

I guess I got what I asked for :) I've gone through 8 so far but have another 10 or 11 waiting to be read. I try to do a thorough job, but I also have a shelf exam next Friday, so please hold off on sending more essays for the time being, and I'll post again when the floodgates may open again.

To anyone who sent one, I'll work on them this weekend.

i would like to humbly thank sdners oldman, vyc, SMW, and rxfudd for critiquing my ps. i didn't think everyone would reply to my PM's. thank you all!

bumping it up for theshinning

I got to read some cool essays too... :)

just wanted to thank rhiana for reading my PS for me! i just submitted (and somehow i don't feel quite as elated as i thought i would :p ...oh, well) so to anyone else i sent to, thank you anyway for the offer....i didn't exactly give anything in the way of notice, so it was my fault that i didn't get the chance to get more critiques! also, i did well on the Writing section of the MCAT, too, and am more than willing to read statements, as well!

PM them over if you want an opinion!!

I'm willing to read and critique personal statements. I have lots of time this week, so I should be able to get them back fast and do a good job.

PM me!

I posted in the other thread. But I am also willing to offer my services until I leave for Duke mid-July.

I will also be willing to read secs. if they are out by then.
