Today's CBSE

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I will not worry about until score reports come in. Its a mature coping mechanism according to First Aid. Till then I'll be chilling hard.

Very comparable to the NBMEs. Like ^, dw now and chill until we get reports.

Not particularly worried as I wasn't very prepared for it, just curious

there was a whole lot of sick infant questions that i was not fully prepared for..

Also what was up with the twenty questions about reproductive and pO2/PCO2 way too much focus on those
I strongly recommend you spend more time with your school's OMFS program. Knowing this stuff is important when managing a patient with CKD and the such and it is important to learn and just as important to be able to execute. Its hard to care and very easy to complain if you haven't experienced it first hand and can't put yourself in an intern's shoes, but becomes much easier once you imagine yourself in a position where you are actually treating the patient.

This is also why I believe programs and school administrations should allow d1s to shadow in OMFS depts so they take their education more seriously.

Agree with above posts. Way way too many questions on pulmonary. I studied CV/neuro for solid 2 weeks and there were barely any questions on these topics. Thank god there were only 1-2 biochem questions as that was my weakest area.

There were a lot of basic questions though. I can think of at least 3 "what is antidote to x overdose" or what is adverse effect of very common drugs.

I highly suggest sketchy micro. Its actually quite entertaining to watch and I found micro pretty straightforward on cbse.

Overall, I think 90-95% of the test was from FA/pathoma/uworld/sketchy.

Somewhat off topic, but for those of you who just recently took the test, how far in advance were you able to sign up?

Trying to register for March and unable to. If any of you have a ballpark figure I can stop being paranoid and checking the website to see when registration opens up
~4 months ahead of time

It ended up being 4 x 1hr 15min blocks of 50 questions each.. instead of 4 x 1hr blocks of 44 questions as advertised

Does anyone know what the average and standard deviation is for this CBSE?

I'm wondering how many people actually got over 60.

Also, if I have a 3.8gpa, publications and a lot of previous surgical experience, but a bad cbse score do you fell I should apply anyways? Im only applying for 4year programs....

I just wanted to get a feel for it. Got a 45. I barely finished first aid the week of, and didn't do anything else.

But now I know the weak points and what to focus on. Particularly that first aid isn't good for anatomy related questions. Also need to focus more on physio

O got 46 second time taking it, las time questions where obsolutly different than this time. Last time was full cardio so even thought I got a feeling for it last time this time the exam was completely different and way harder. That is why I'm wondering how likely it is that people actually got over 60 which is supposed to be decent for applying. If only dental student took that test on that day I know only 3 people too that exam in my school and probably only no more than 8 in the state. If that is what happens at every state maybe people taking the exam is not more than 200 in the country. (Correct me if I'm wrong) that been said I don't know how many people actually really get over 60... can anyone else add more about this?

I am sure that in a few days there'll be several guys posting about 75+ scores...happens every year

Does anyone know how to get the range and median for the test???

AAOMS will send an email next week with the numbers.
How people perform on a specific exam date shouldn't really matter right? I was told programs just look at scores. They don't check whether you take the exam in March, August, this year, last year, etc.

It seems like the mean tends to be around a 55 with a SD around 10

AAOMS will send an email next week with the numbers.

Mean of 50.8, range of 25 to 94, and a standard deviation of 11.6

The mean is low, but the max is crazy amazing.

I vote to curve the exam to the usual 55 average, that way everyone gets back 5 points 😛

Lol...Let's hope that the March scores are better.
