too many letters of recommendation?

This is kind of an unusual problem but:

3 science, 4 nonscience + 1 comittee letter= 8... too much??

And if it is should I tell the pre-med department to disregard one of the non-science?

Yeah it's definitely too much especially since you will have a committee added to your file. You may want to take out 2 of the non-science letters.
