Hi I am a freshman at the University of Kentucky and this semester im taking
Che 105 (general chem 1)
Bio 150 (principles of bio)
English (required)
MA 123 (elementry Calculus)
PS 235 (world politics which is for a social science requirement.)
and Che 111 (chem lab goes with che 105)

all together this is 16 hours.

I had 14 hours last semester and earned a 3.3 because of a philosophy class i had to take for humanities.

Im not sure if i should drop the PS 235 or not because at some point ill have to take it and if i dont this semester ill be taking it next with chem 2 and higher bio class

That's the average course load for freshmen. You should be fine.

If you are worried, then take the poli sci class in the summer. But don't take any pre reqs for med school in the summer :)

I'd say that's a relatively easy courseload, and would stick to it.

 If you can take the psc class in the summer, then consider doing so. Down the road you will need to take 16 credits and do better than a 3.3 to show med schools that you can handle difficult course loads. However, as a Freshman it is ok to start off slowly.

A 4.0 on 12 credits is going to look better than another 3.3. for 16.

Wow, that's a load of work.

I'd rather take 5 upper division biology and physiology classes (which wasn't too bad) than what you have.

Don't believe what everyone's telling you. I finished undergrad without ever taking 6 classes in a term. Your course load is way more difficult than my freshman year. When I started, I only took Gen Chem and lab, Japanese, and writing. I still managed to double major.

Good luck!
