Took MCAT 3 times -> Screwed?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wow...

As you as you improved from each test you took and 33 is the result of your last test, you're golden. (Watch this cause some med schools take the best combined total of all your tests)

If you are one of those kids who took the test, got a 33, and they say "OH GOD, I'M NOT GOING TO GET INTO HARVARD!!! I NEED TO RETAKE"...then you got problems...

definitely screwed my man. time to think about alternate careers, like street cleaning.

Doko, I took the MCAT 3 times (I'm one of those people who couldn't do well on verbal to save my life) and the last time scored 31S. So far, I have been invited to interview at 16 schools (including Pitt, UCSF, OHSU, BU, Wisconsin, USC, UCI, & others) and I have gotten into 5 schools so far -- and one of them is UCSF! I was worried about this, too, and I had the chance to ask a former admissons director at UCSF about how it looks when someone takes the MCAT over and he basically said that it would be worse if you didn't do as well and DIDN'T try to improve your score. So hey- MCAT 3X makes you stronger and builds character. 🙂 And you did GREAT on the MCAT the last time so you'll be fine!

You'll be fine. I took the MCAT even more times than you and finally got a good score (though not as high as yours). By the end of this month I will have completed four interviews (3 MD, 1 DO) and still have more than a dozen schools to hear back from post-secondary. No acceptances yet, but as an August 2004 MCAT'er I think I'm doing okay so far.

Hello Everyone.

I am wondering if anybody has (or knows someone) who took the MCAT three times and got into a decent medical school.

I am wondering if I am monumentally screwed because I have, and if there is any hope for me.

I have roughly a 3.7, 33R, great EC's, great recs.

THANKS!! :scared:
you'll be fine!

You will be fine. I have also taken the MCAT 3 times, with consecutive increases and have had 1 interview and another at the end of January. Still waiting for post-secondary invitations.
