Tooth extraction techniques

I was shadowing an oral surgeon recently and he mentioned a couple of extraction techniques that he likes. He mentioned one on (I am going to murder this name) Asterland, or Aserand, or Agerand or something similar.

Does anyone know the technique or the proper name and where I could read more about it or find more information on it?
