I created this thread for those who applied for Touro college NY. This will be great if we all can connect and keep each other posted on our acceptances, rejections etc. I applied on 8/31/2015, and haven't heard back from them yet. Have they sent anyone a supplemental application?

I applied, haven't received a supplemental app yet. Just a email saying they received the application

I submitted my info on October 1st and received a supplemental last week. This is for Touro Long Island

I guess my stats are playing out on me. Applied way earlier before you but still haven't received a supplemental yet. Guess they choosing more competitive applicants first before average applicants? Will you mind sharing your stats so I know where I stand? I have a 3.0 prereq/overall & have average GRE scores.

3.46 cGPA
3.5 pGPA
200 Observation hours
152V 152Q 3.5W
some extracurricular club/charities

Best of Luck!

I completed the supplemental app about a month ago and have yet to hear back with a decision... Here is my timetable:

October 13th- PTCAS Verified
October 15th- Received Touro Supplemental APP
October 15th (Same Day)- Submitted Touro Supplemental
October 26th- Application sent to committee for formal review

Best of luck to all of you

Yeah I received the supplemental app at least a month ago and returned it within a week. Have yet to hear anything further.

Does any one know a bit about this program? I know their Bay Shore campus is one building. Are all of the classes in that building or are there other buildings or hospitals around town that they use? Also, any one that has visited, what do the facilities look like? Are they modern? I've only seen it from the outside. It looks pretty old.

I was just accepted into Touro (Manhattan Campus) has anyone else heard any news

Just got an acceptance to the Bay Shore campus today via e-mail

Congrats on your acceptance. Will you mind sharing your stats? Still haven't heard anything.

I heard the buildings are pretty old based on what I read somewhere in the forum and the facilities are mediocre. Btw congrats on your acceptance. Applied to both campuses but haven't heard anything yet. Hope you won't mind sharing your stats so we know where we stand.

Waitlisted: Radford (won't be attending)

I'm still very undecided. I want to be in Long Island because I have family there and I like the area. I also like that they offer a dual degree and cadaver dissection. But I don't know if it will be worth it if I'm not getting a quality education and I'm miserable. I'm hopefully going to make a visit before I need to make my deposit.

I'm in a similar situation, the location is ideal and the dual degree is something different but I have heard very mixed reviews about the school itself. I am going to be making a visit in early January before I decide on whether to put the deposit down. If you do make a visit, let me know your thoughts on everything.

Hi, I'm actually a current DPT 2017 student at Touro Manhattan. I may be able to answer some of your questions.

Hi, I'm actually a current DPT 2017 student at Touro Manhattan. I may be able to answer some of your questions.

I've heard that the Manhattan campus is actually a little worse than the Bay Shore campus. I've heard that the faculty doesn't really care about the success of their students and that quite a few actually drop out. Do you know anything about the Bay Shore campus? I'm going to see if they'll let me tour it in early January.

Also, do they do anything that allows you to get in touch with other people in the program to discuss living situations and stuff? I know that when I was accepted to Lynchburg they invited me to a private facebook group with all of the others that were accepted so that everyone could discuss living and such.

I posted a thread in the Physical Therapy section hoping that someone that was in the program could answer my questions. I have a good amount of questions there.

Thank you for your help!

Maybe in terms of space, Bayshore campus is better. However the Manhattan Program is excellent, it's in the heart of the city, there are many eateries etc.
I don't think there is a Facebook group for living situations, many commute and those from out of town rent an apartment with other students...

How do you get in contact with others from the program? Do they send out something with everyone's contact info? I will be someone who will be from out of town and will need to find a roommate for an apartment.

I'm not sure, though if you asked they might send out a list.

When did some of you guys submit your supplemental app? I submitted mine at the end of October and have still yet to hear back.... Wondering if I should be getting worried:

Major: Biology
3.3 cGPA
3.2 pGPA
164 Q / 154 V / 4.5 AW
200 Outpatient Hours (2 different settings in 2 different states), 75 inpatient hours (Acute Care Hospital)
Runner (5 x Half Marathon finisher) (1 x Full Marathon) and other extracurricular activities

I know my GPA is a little below average, but was hoping the strength of my undergraduate institution, my GRE scores, and my observation hours might help.

I submitted mine in October as well. I got my acceptance Dec. 17.

Hi I am a current student at Touro College in Bayshore- DPT class of 2018. feel free to ask questions

How do you get in contact with others from the program? Do they send out something with everyone's contact info? I will be someone who will be from out of town and will need to find a roommate for an apartment.

The administration will be sending out emails by the spring for accepted students day, so you will meet potential classmates that day. Apartment info will be given then as well

I would start a Facebook page, that is what I did. Also there will be an accepted students day where you will meet your classmates, apartment info will be given out then as well

how do you like the professors and would you be able to tell us how long a typical day is time wise?

@ xyz888 Hey how you like the professors and their teaching style. Do they seem to genuinely care for students and do all they can to make you the best PT you can be? I was just accepted an am hesitant because I never really got a feel for the professors. Also the area is bit more pricey than i'm used to.

For anyone still waiting to hear back--accepted to the Bayshore campus today, but will be declining my spot! best of luck!

The professors are overall great, you will definitely learn a lot. They take the time to explain things in detail and not just fly through the material. They also make sure everyone is on top of things, and are flexible when it comes to moving exams and such if classes tend to conflict with each other. All the professors in the program will know you since class sizes are small.

The area is a bit pricey, but that's Long Island and there are multiple apartment complexes and such close by. The school will provide you with realtor contacts during accepted students day. I know some classmates are paying between $900-1800 (rough estimate for single bedroom) depending on the location. If you find roommates, or find a house to rent, it will be cheaper. The campus itself is one building in the middle of Bayshore (residential area), but there is so much to do around town and we have access to Touro College Law Library as well. Your typical day ranges from 9 am to 4/5 pm depending on the schedule, and have an hour for lunch in between.

Hope this helps!

Did anyone receive and email saying "Thank you again for your application to Touro College’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. In order to make your application more competitive it is suggested that you retake the GRE’s and update the office of admissions as soon as a new GRE score report is available. Once we receive the new official GRE score report from PTCAS we will contact you regarding the status of your application. Keep in mind that the Touro DPT program admits students on a rolling basis and may fill prior to posted deadline dates" ?

I scored a 152Q and a 145V the first time and just retook the exam and scored a 148Q and a 149V. I have a 3.0 gpa and over 1000 hours of experience in both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Also, what kinds of questions should I expect in the supplemental email if accepted? Thanks

I received an email titled "Touro College DPT Application Received" 3/13. I haven't been contacted (yet) about a supplemental app. I have low stats, so even this school is a reach for me... oh and my application is for the Bayshore campus

I submitted a supplemental app back in December. I contacted them recently to tell them I have not received anything, and they said they are still reviewing until June 🙁

Has anyone been accepted and definitely will be attending? Also, is there a Facebook group up yet?

I plan on attending, but no i dont think i saw a facebook group yet. A facebook group would definitely be a good way to get to meet some other students before class gets started.

Awesome. Yeah someone should definitely make a facebook group so we can all get to know eachother. Are you guys going to accepted students day?

Hey, I have not received any decision from Touro and they told me they can accept all the way till June. Has anyone been placed on their waitlist?

i sent in my supplement and received confirmation march 1st, they said it would take 4 weeks but its been longer. i was also told they can accept until june 1st but this is getting frustrating... anyone else around this time line?

I received confirmation for my application on October 26th and am still waiting to hear back, have been in contact with the director of admissions about hearing back but am still waiting, good luck.

Hey peeps, I've been on the wait list since January.
I've been in contact with the admissions counselor and he said he'll probably get back to me anywhere between May and June. Crossing all of my fingers, limbs, blood vessels, etc...

Has anyone started looking into housing? I'm interested in maybe sharing a house so that the rent will be less. Message me!

Don't feel bad about being on the waitlist. At least you heard back. I haven't even heard back from them yet. However, I did get into one of my top choices, so I'll probably end up turning down Touro. Good luck!

They definitely do a waitlist. I was put on it in April 2014 and accepted from it August 2014 (but was already enrolled elsewhere so declined). They notify you via email.

@dpthelp
Yes they do a wait list. I was told by the admission counselor in January. From what I hear, it moves a lot but not sure if they'll get to me in time for class in July.

Do you mind sharing what your GPA and GRE were when you applied?

158 V, 161 Q, 5.0 W for the GRE. As for GPA, it was something in 3.0-1 area for cumulative and about a 3.4 for pre-reqs (depending on how you calculate retakes). Things have continued to change though, and I wouldn't use it as any kind of benchmark. Every year seems more competitive than the last. I wound up leaving the program I was in and reapplied to Touro and haven't heard anything, so either those stats no longer measure up or getting my application in December this time vs. in August last time really changed things.
