I would like to call roll for those who got accepted to Touro University in Vallejo for Fall 2005. Please tell everyone a little bit about yourself and what your plan is for the housing situation.

I just visited Touro campus today to check out the school's co-ed dorm Wilderman. There is also Mare Island Sport Academy (~ 1 mile from the school). This dorm doesn't belong to Touro, but the two men I spoke to (who are in charge of MISA) informed me that they are working with Touro to accommodate the students and that the number of rooms available depends on the student demand for Fall 2005. They have a lot of room but they only want to renovate enough to meet the demand. The furnished rooms that I visited are very nice. I plan to stay there.

How were the campus dorms inside? I didn't visit them because of the steep hill. I didn't like that hill and I don't think I will be living on the island either. Electricity is supposed to expensive and I would much prefer to have a grocery, shopping, etc near by. That being said, I drove around Vallejo and that wasn't appealing either. I think I might live in Benicia as I have heard great things about that town.
Congrats on being a part of the charter class!

Is anyone still interviewing with Touro? Just curious because the website indicates that the Admissions Committee is still interviewing. Is anyone still interviewing?

Hi Daria!

Congratulations! The dorms didn't look attractive to me. Climbing the hill was not a big deal for me. I will check out the apartments/houses off the island.

Are you going to share an apartment with others? Please let me know.

I wonder where the rest of the class is.

Arbangchan,

I finished all except microbiology, which I'm taking right now.

General questions: tell us about yourself, where you see yourself in the future, the future of pharmacy, why pharmacy, etc. Please refer to my other posts.

During the application cycle, volunteer at hospital pharmacy, volunteer at biology research lab, work more than 5 years in nonprofit healthcare sector.

So why do people always say volunteer at xxxx when they can get paid for doing the same thing. Does volunteering look that much better than pay for the same job

Hello,

I'm on the "High Alternate List" and I'm crossing my fingers because I really want to go to Touro. I wonder how many people are on this list.

Congrats to all who got in!

I only know of one other person on the High Alternate List...when did you apply?

I believe being a volunteer shows more motivation and commitment, especially when one goes to school full-time and has other responsibilities.

Good luck!

Drugman,

I applied at the end of December and my interview was in March. I wonder how good my chances are of getting in if I'm on that alternate list.

I'm crossing my fingers!!!
