Hey sdn mcaters,

I know I've seen a thread on this forum about these exams, but I can't seem to find them now.

The end of the tests explains that the science portions are more difficult on the TPR than the actual MCAT, but what they don't tell you is why it is more difficult. Are the questions more demanding (intellectually)? Or is the content more specific? Maybe the passages are more confusing, yield less useful detail...etc.

Also, am I correct in understanding that the 15-point scale depends on the distribution of points for a given test? If so, then it seems ridiculous to suggest that one scale is of any use in estimation of another exam, especially since TPR admits that their tests are written differently (or at least, such that they're more difficult [whatever that means]).

For those of you who have recently taken an official MCAT and also studied from TPR's practice tests (namely A-D), what do you think? If TPR's tests and scores can be trusted to be at least indicative of performance on the big show, how off might one expect them to be, and why?

well here's another story I heard....my TPR instructor suggested we never TOUCH the TPR A-D because they are wayy off the real deal....in other words they are reaaaallly hard.....and this instructor is one of the best TPR has because he's been with them for almost 10 years and also a TPR trainer....but nevertheless....pre-meds like us go ahead and take it anyway....but remember to not take these scores into consideration because they dont reflect the real MCAT....not even closely....again this is not my opinion....it's my instructor's....so good luck to u guys

Those tests are super hard, especialy the science part. I would suggest doign the verbal tho, in my opinion, the passages are hard but they are doable.... and it gives you more verbal practice...

For those of you rocking your verbal practice tests, how do you gauge the A-D tests in comparison?

I just took practice test A, and received an 8 on my verbal....Im not sure if I should take this as a sign of confidence since they are supposed to be hard, or just figure its pretty much as an accurate reflection...

Thanks

don't put any stock into a-d. just b/c you did well (or poorly) doesn't mean you'll do even better on the real mcat. it might as well be LSAT passages or passages from some other test.

these tests aren't especially hard, they're just poorly written. Their BS is pretty standard stuff. But in PS, sometimes they don't even provide you with enough information in the passage to answer the questions or you can't seem to answer it because how poorly it was set up. Kaplan's PS, on the other hand, is reasonable but may seem difficult because of the time constraint.
