Wondering what anyone thinks -
I am a bio major at a California community college. If I transfer just as "general studies", I can transfer in another *semester* or so.
If I transfer as a bio major, I have to take a lot of my med prerequisite classes at the community college before being admitted to the major as a transfer student.
I'm in California, I want to stay in California, I already have a spotty academic history (although things have turned around in recent years), and I'm a junior college transfer student... I may as well leverage as much in my favor as I can.
I already have almost all of my *other* required GEs if I transfer in as a general studies major - if they'll let me. I am following the IGETC transfer pattern.
I'm thinking of transferring, then declaring my major as biology once I'm already at Davis. I'll have to find out if I can do this.
It will be more expensive (I'll have to do an extra year to two years at the university that I otherwise would've done at the community college), but seeing as how I want to stay in California, it may be worth it...
What y'all say?
