Transferring from categorical IM to Neuro residency on J1

Hey guys, hope all is well w y’all. I just started my program and just seem not to like the medicine and miss the other stuff from Neuro. Will there be any barriers for me to change it? Have heard that I can’t repeat pgy-1 on my next program given I am on J visa and should start from pgy2 on next. It makes me a lil bit worried. What if I am not up to par on their intern’s levels? What if me not being able to repeat the year is gonna be the problem? Will there be a funding issue as well? Would be great if someone on j1 who did something similar or someone who knows would give me some guidance. Wish y’all the best
