Ok I am not in Med school, and a long ways away but I was just curious to whether or not you can switch med schools? I dunno why someone would want to but is it an option? I would guess no because you would have to apply and all that stuff but I was just curious.

Yes, most schools do allow you to transfer, but only between your second and third year and only if you have a very compelling reason (i.e. you have a spouse, or a parent who's dying, etc. that lives in the city you want to transfer to).

One of the PI's who works in a lab next to mine transfered from UCSF to Hopkins. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Yeah, it was after her second year, and I believe because her husband was doing a residency there.

One of my friends just transfered to UT Southwestern in Dallas after her 2nd year also b/c her husband was there in Dallas. Like Amy said, if you have a good reason, they'll consider it.
