Hi guys. I wondered if anyone had any good travel tips for getting to Mayo - I know that most airlines go to Minneapolis-St.Paul and then there is a shuttle. Anyone do this, and was it a pain? Also, did anyone take the train from Chicago and then the shuttle to Rochester? How was that? (I will be flying from Houston)

And which Houston airport is closer to Baylor?

    Thank you!!

(PS - if you interviewed at these schools and have other comments or suggestions, please include. I know there are preexisting threads on both.)

For Baylor, you should fly into Hobby--it is much closer than IAH.

    GOOD LUCK! (I happen to be a big Baylor fan... :D :D :D :D :D :D )

The Hobby airport is closer to Baylor, so you should probably fly in there (though the Bush Intercontinental is not too much farther).

For Mayo -- FLY INTO ROCHESTER. It's better than the shuttle and only slightly more.

Definitely fly into Hobby NOT Intercontinental Bush. Hobby is much closer to the med center. I don't know, but I think they may offer a shuttle to your hotel. Double check beforehand.

As far as tips, the Baylor interview is a very long, drawn out 2 day interview. Save up your stamina because I was exhausted afterwards. Get a good night sleep friday night and look fresh and alert on saturday. Although it is only a half day on Saturday, that was actually the most tiring part for me... well, that and hearing bits of the interesting late night med student conversation where I was staying... and having the med student's cell phone go off every 15 minutes because he accidentally forgot it before he went out to party. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> :D But, since the bed I slept in was very comfortable, I got a good sleep and was fine for the next day.
  7. Regarding Mayo, I flew into Rochester as well (it's a cute little airport :) ) If you stay with a student host, they might be able to come and get you since it's not that far away. Luckily it worked out that way for me. Good luck with your interviews!!!

Hello! When I went to Mayo, it was too expensive for me to go into Rochester, so I went into Minneapolis. I used the Rochester Direct (or Express?) shuttle, and it worked out wonderfully. The trip was a little over an hour, but they drop you off at your hotel and they pick you back up at your hotel too. I think round trip is about 40 dollars...also, when I was at Mayo, the day was scheduled until 6 pm, but all interviews were done by 2...mine were done by 1.

As for Baylor, I flew into intercontinental and took airport express is only 12 or 15 dollars and they take you right to your hotel. The medical center is about 30 minutes from that airport.
