Hi Everyone. For those of you who have interviewed at Buffalo Medical School, can you give me a general idea of how long it takes to get from the airport to the interview site? I want to fly in the morning of my interview and was wondering if it would be possible timewise. In addition, is it easy to hail a cab from the airport? Thanks for your help.

I go to UB undergrad, and I would say that it takes about 20 minutes with normal traffic. BUT since you'll be coming in during rush hour, I would really suggest being in a cab about an hour before you need ot be there. It may be overkill, but you would hate to make a bad impression on a day like that... the weather generally ties up traffic if it's bad. Good luck! Oh, and I'm not sure how easy it is to get a cab...I've never had to get one from the airport.

Thanks for your input hmno82. My flight actually arrives an hour before my interview so I'll have to look into the cab issue. On a side note, is the Travellodge hotel the closest one to the med school?

I flew in to Buffalo as well and I got a taxi right away. There's a special place where the taxis come - it's very easy to find - just follow the taxi signs in the airport. I flew in the day before my interview and stayed over at the Travelodge which is very close to the school (about a 10 minute walk). I think my taxi ride from the airport to the hotel that day was about 15-20 minutes but there was no traffic.

Good luck! 👍

I stayed with a student host and she was nice enough to pick me up from the airport - see if any alums from your ugrad go there...they seem more willing to make your interview experience pleasant.

When I interviewed there, several people flew in that morning while traffic may be bad depending on weather (its not like LA or SF traffic) and its about 20-30 min factoring in traffic (not weather) as HMNO82 said. Also I think they begin with a tour which you could probably do yourself at the end if you are delayed. I think all the interviews were after lunch!

Since classes start in the morning I dont think you'll be able to get a student to pick you up but you can try! In your interview packet there is a hotel across from UB medical campus you should stay there if you can.

G'Luck
