Is it true that a 45 has never been done? It doesn't seem like it would be too impossible but very highly improbable. I certainly don't think I could ever do it (in case anyone was thinking I was planning one ).

I'm sure you can. You just need to believe in yourself.

lol, I'm sure thats all there is to it.

Well, he is right in the sense that if you're mentally capable of a 45, it takes some belief in yourself. I retook my 2370 for the 2400 because I just wanted to do it and knew it would just be luck. If you're smart enough for 43 or 44, you can probably work for the 45 (but again, I don't know if it's ever been done).

I feel like your chance of getting a 45 is the same as getting stuck by lightning, getting a 40,41, or 42 can be done but a 45 is luck

i heard that 45 was a standard set by God himself when He wrote the MCAT on the 7th day of creation. He said: "let there be a test that no mortal being can score the same as I can." and voila was the MCAT.

rumour also has it that Chuck Norris has once scored a 44.9 on the MCAT. closest a living man has ever been to a 45...

supersaiyan3... you know what that means? it means the only person who can beat chuck norris ..... is yes.... chuck norris.

I met someone who was one of those people who were taking the mcat for a company like she would go in and take the exam and then come out writing everything there is she can remember about a certain test so that people like us can benefit from this. She said she scored like a 42, 43? but couldn't go over the hump. Obviously, this is after alot of tries. But hey, if you're chuck norris .... yeah ....

This movie is about a pre-med from MIT who scored a 44 and had a 4.0. Got accepted into Harvard but couldn't afford tuition. It's a true story. I saw about half of it. It's not that great. I suppose that's as close to perfect as you can get.

That link doesn't work and I know 44's exist, I met one. Also, 21 is a pretty big feature film, lol.

This is definitely not the case:

You might want to check the source of that rumor, because it floated around here for a while until the advisor who mentioned it then rescinded. Maybe it was a composite score across different exams where they combined the best score from each section on different days, but I doubt that too. I assume it's just one of those cool urban legends like the supposed chemistry professor who gave a make up exam to the four guys who returned late from Spring break and claimed it was because of a flat tire. As the story goes, they took make up exams in separate rooms and each had a 95-point question #2 that asked simply, "which tire?"

Up until 2007, verbal was capped at 13-15 (and not 15), so no one could actually get a true 45. If you look at the history of the exam, very rarely was there a time when PS topped at 15 and BS topped at 15 on the same exam, meaning that essentially no one from 1991 through 2006 could have gotten a 43-45.

If you look at the AAMC bar graph data for 2007 and 2008, no one has done it on the CBT. So I'm going to assume that no one has ever gotten a true 45 since they went to the current scoring system.

The highest person I've ever met personally was a 42-44 in 2004, which 45 or not is pretty impressive.

yea, something's a little fishy about how UCF is handling its medical school. they're advertising it as one of the best in the country with top applicants but the only reason they got such amazing applicants last year was because they gave those kids free tuition for all 4 years............ you go on their website and talk to people involved over there and you'd think you're applying to harvard.

they're in for a rude awakening this year if they expect to be more selective than schools like UF and USF

Oh ok, that's the same place I had heard it.

There's some salesman/teacher guy who walks around UCLA claiming he got a 45 on the MCAT so you'll take his class. The guy is completely shady, so it's interesting to know that no one has ever gotten a 45.

how does the 13-15 on the verbal work? I think I saw that score earlier 13-15. But how does one get that score.

Also, I know that someone got a 44 in the 70s or 80s,, If you guys have watched that movie '21', the lead in that movie got a 44 on the MCAT and it is based on a true story

Keep in mind that "based on a true story" is not equivalent to "true story."

I'm not saying the kid it was based on didn't do it (cause I really don't know), but most true stories made into movies are incredibly hollywoodized.

Ben Campbell in 21 was based on Jeff Ma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIT_Blackjack_Team is the wikipedia article on the team the story was based on. Thats the most information I can find (though the article is poorly written, even for wikipedia).

Only part of that movie is true. The guy never applied for med school, he was premed who decided to do something else after making all his money from Vegas.

there is reasoning in 45 for an unreachable score.

take the number 45, divide it by 5 (it's 2nd number), then multiply by 4 (it's 1st number), then subtract it by the devil's number (THIRTEEN), and you get this number:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Number_23

coincidence? I think not...

I think now we have proof that MCAT truly is a test from the darkest depths of Mordor... 1 test to bind them, 1 test to rule them.

Even the greatest pokemaster, Ash Ketchum, would not be able to "catch them all" (them, referring to the answers to all the questions) on the MCAT. Not even in the Diamond Kryptonite Golduunium version on the Nintendo Saga 360.

- the one and only supersaiyan 3.. i may soon power up to supersaiyan 4 one of these days. or downgrade to the 2nd level.. i always liked the 2nd level the most.

That's Jon. He actually got a 44. He's definitely not shady and actually started his own test prep company.

Somebody got a 45 last year on the MCAT. It's doable and it does happen. Of course, I'd say that anybody who can consistently score 40 or better has a shot at 45. It's all luck at that point.

But seriously, my source is the highly reliable MSAR. According to MSAR, the score range for people excepted into medical school was 7 to 45 on the MCAT last year. Note, the range is not 7 to 43. Also, the score range for matriculants on each section was 1-15.

I think the person (or people) who get 45s though were trying to be cautious. It might cause too much jelousy if a 45 scorer were to broadcast his/her score. I don't think that person would have too many friends.

Good :luck: to those of you shooting for a 45. Remember, once you are up to 30-35, you're competitive. Once you are up to 40, it's all about luck to getting a 45. :)

BTW, I'm waiting for my May 1st MCAT score. I REALLY want it back. I was not one of those people who scored 40 or better consistently, so I know I probably did not get a 45.

Admissions guy: "But you have perfect MCAT scores!"

Kumar: "Yeah... just because you're hung like a donkey doesn't mean you gotta do porn"

Why do you say that? Do your homework and get back to me with something tangible. Study the applicant pool and all of the other factors and then tell me why a new program cannot be one of the top two programs in Florida.

For what it's worth, there have been a few 45 MCAT scores in the past, but not every year. And yes, UCF does have a 15,15,15 MCAT, in the charter class; only took it once, and the person WAS NOT an MCAT instructor.

Do you have a source for this or is it just more non-sensical fantasy?

If your source request is regarding the member of the UCF Charter Class with a 45 MCAT, I am the source. You can verify in the MSAR that will be issued approximately one year from now.

Wow, you're the source? Just out of curiousity, Deep Throat...do you have anything besides "I'm the source" and a paper that might come out a year from now?

Your not the source....your the joke.

If you did your homework and research you wouldnt have to embarrass yourself. Do you expect everything to be given to you? This is a very easy assignment because I dont hide behind a made up name. Those who have known me on SDN, and in person understand my credibility, honesty, and helpfulness.

Here's what I know about this guy. He came into one of my lectures before the professor was there claiming he got a 45. He was selling his MCAT course and as soon as the professor arrived he bolted out the other door without finishing his sentence. After class he's got flyers plastered everywhere and all of these people in T-shirts passing out leaflets claiming he's sponsored by the medical school. The person trying to stuff one into my face did it with an intensity that would make the Scientologists on Bruin Walk jealous. Talk about high pressure marketing, wow!

Since then, I don't think UCLA let's him on campus, because his flyers are gone and I haven't seen him. I have heard some students complain that the class is in a church one day and then a frat house another. If it's sponsored by the medical school, why won't they let him teach there? All the other companies teach on campus. It just seems weird.

One of my classmates in high school told me that her boyfriend's father got a 45 on the MCAT. He is currently a urologist in Florida.

Eh, a 45 isn't all that impressive anymore. A ton of people have been getting 45+ on the MCAT lately. For some reason, it seems like everyone's been scoring SUPER well ever since the beginning of 2015 ;)
