I am always thinking about how busy i will be at Med school and how inefficient i spend my time.
I am wondering if any of you are going to rid yourself of useless devices that could take time away from your studies. My devices that i am considering not bringing to med school are the following:
1.TV- has to be a #1 for alot of us
2.PS2(playstation2)- I only play when others come over and hangout, but time in med school is priceless(who is going to reply w/ a mastercard joke?)
Some others you might consider:
3. Porno movies(nah, their an essential... i dont even own one anymore)
4. Your girl/boyfriend...why do you need to waste all that time talking when you have #3  ?

I think the little free time i have will be spent at the gym and eating. Am i making med school seem too difficult and more like Jail, or even worse, hell? damn i shoulda been a rapper

Hey that's enough----no more of me in your thread titles!

No one can catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!

..and my TV won't be the distraction for med school--it'll be SDN! And I have to bring my computer!

I can just see Foxy here when she's 55 and thinking about retiring, but insisting on staying around so she can post her 200,000th message on the Senior Doctor Network... :)

This is suppose to be a serious topic. Anyone dropping some fun stuff from their routines?
Guess i should not include humor if i want a serious reply.
Foxy- i thought you were the gingerbread woman?

I dunno if this counts, but Scoob told me he was gonna cut some stuff out of his daily schedule once med school starts. I'm pretty sure he's decided to give up figure skating, gymnastics, and ballet all at once! Talk about committment to the field of medicine! Hang in there Scoob! :p

Right now I'm taking a 20% overload, working 20 hours a week as a TA, I volunteer at three places, and I'm trying to work on a thesis.

I'm dropping everything but school for med school. So, I'm thinking it might actually be a chance to relax! All the students I saw at my school had plenty of time to hang around...

Bro you and Scooby have been spending wayyyyy too much "quality time" together!

Without a doubt I will have to give up soaps. I watch All My Children and One Life to Live everyday. I doubt I will have time for that in med school.

Although this post is very entertaining.

I really think I am going to donate my TV to some homeless dude or something.

My host at Pritzker doesn't have a TV and I think I am going to follow in his footsteps.

DAMN IT PRITZKER PLEASE ACCEPT ME

Med school life isn't as busy as you think it is. You just have to hone your time management skills. I spend about 2 hours a day in the gym, and still have my TV and an X-box. The TV and X-box don't get a whole lot of use right now, but it's still nice to have them around for the much needed study break.

The only difference is that you probably are huge from working out but he only gets like one or two exercises in during that time. A quick question, do you find working out makes you tired, do you ever turn away the books for a nap or extra sleep?
That seems to be my problem right now and I'm afraid of that affecting my med school performance.

Anyways, I'm going to have to give up Instant Messenger. It's so effing addictive and I don't know why. I'm wondering if cable is worth getting. I wouldn't want to miss college football season but don't want to jeopardize my grades. Moderation is the key I suppose.

Scoob will just replace these with quality library time in his tights.....

Hercules,
Do most of your test take place on a certain day. For me, in my undergrad, it always seemed like i would have 3-4test one week and none for the rest of the month. If that is the case, i will bring the PS2 and my TV.
I have to keep the TV b/c that is just a great excuse to invite some nurse(one of those fantasy things) or college freshman back to the ol' pad, and with the PS2 i can watch the newest DVD that is out .
Simpleton, cable is useless anyways. It is better to run out to a restraunt/bar with a couple of pals and throw back a few. this will help drown out the agony of learning 9 courses in one semester,IMHO  .

I'm trying to get rid of some of my quirks like drinking when I go away to med school. and besides the weekends are for working-out, studying, and meeting nice young ladies like dr. foxy

I think you're right about cable though cause it really is a waste and you can read the news on the net.

Simpleton,
I don't really take naps. I also wouldn't recommend a straight two hour workout. I usually put in about an hour of cardio in the morning while my blood sugar is low to burn the fat. Then I do my weightlifting in the afternoons. The cardio can double as study time if your willing to use a machine like an eliptical trainer. You definitely can't give up the football, though. In the beginning of Gross, I used to keep my books in front of me on Saturdays while I was watching the games. By the end of Gross, I quit kidding myself and just watched the games with a cold one in my hand.

BlameItOnTheNurse,
It depends on what courses you're having. Currently I'm on a block testing schedule, so all my tests hit at once. This leaves ample time for slacking and goofing off. Next time it may be different (the testing that is, not my goofing off).
