I've read a variety of things. The above is short and sweet.
Don't forget the classic board question about association of autoimmune diseases:
Ex. Hashimoto's and pernicious anemia ("birds of a feather flock together" so one autoimmune disease, then possible a second or perhaps a third... even a polyglandular syndrome here and there) --> B12 deficiency --> macrocytic anemia
