Does anyone accepted to Tufts know when they send out housing information? Has anyone started looking for housing in Boston already? thanks.

Utes said:Malden is 17 minutes away via the T (orange line). Close enough that I don't have to wake up too early to get to class, far enough away that I don't feel like I'm living downtown. It's a condo, not an apartment but there seems to be a lot of places to rent there (apt's/houses/etc). My favorite part is the parking, even living right next to the T, I don't think I can give up my car.

tuftsd09 said:Hi! I'm a first year at Tufts right now. I was looking for a roommate for next year. I am currently renting a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. It is on the 22nd floor with a view of the Boston Harbor. It is 3 stops from the dental school on the Orange Line (takes about 5 minutes) or about a 10-12 minute walk. The T stop is right next to the building. If you are interested, please reply to this thread. Thank you!
DUBS said:that sounds awesome...how much does the apt cost per month (including water, gas, and electric bills)? also, how did you find apartments when searching for your current apartment, and how much time did you giver yourself before school started to find it? thanks a lot.
any new information regarding this thread ... ill be attending Tufts in the fall and will be moving from VA. As of right now im thinking about maybe living in the dorms for a year to meet people and learn the area ... thoughts?
Posner is intended for incoming freshmen only. In order to stay there as an upperclassman, you'd have to petition to be in a lottery system and get selected to be there.
Agreed with the post, the shared bathrooms makes it a challenge in the morning as everyone will try to use it for your 9am or 10am classes. As you can imagine, this would be a difficult for second years who have 8am classes, "sharp", and have to compete for bathroom use. Also, the difference in schedule would allow parties and gatherings that may interfere with your second year studies, ie exam blocks (14 exams over 2 weeks) and the boards! It is recommended that you find someplace to live as second year. A lot of people group-up from the dorms and move to the Metropolitan next door, which is nicer but more expensive. The extra cost is worth it.
The shared kitchen is not that cooking friendly either. I knew people that spent a lot of money eating out, which meant all of the money saved from the dorm minus the privacy.
On the privacy note, bringing someone home from the club or the street would not be easy. ... recommendation: get a hotel using a fake ID 😀
Now, lets talk about the benefits of living in the dorms. It is litterally a block and a half from school, or even closer if you know the shortcuts. That means, on those nasty winter days with negative tempuratures that would get your hands and ears to fall off, you can walk through these secret paths that are connective to the school.
You will feel bad for your friends who have to walk through the Boston Commons during these times.
Also, since you're so close to school, that means that you can stay late and study in the newly renovated library, or do lab work, waxups, etc... in school and come home without safety concerns. And trust me, you will spend plenty of time to study and do these activities during your first year.
During my stay there were a few violent acts in front of the dorm. However, Tufts campus is very safe, if you make it to be. During night times, students have the option of having the police escort them back to the dorm if needed.
.... Ok, that's enough for now, if you have more questions, PM me.
Why does gunner always edit his posts?
Why? Did you wanted to look at it some more?
BTW - I would rather get the M3 or IS-F than the Supra; unless they are planning to make the Supra competitive with those above.

responded like a true gentleman ... I would have to agree with the M3 and I know nothing about cars
well thats actually good news as im also interested in living in the dorms but thought it might be hard ... has anyone been apartment hunting? How much is the rent are you seeing out there?
$900-$1600/mo
I don't know how I feel about this yet. It's so much money. I know as adults we should be able to appropriate our money wisely, but I'd rather it be given to me as a monthly "allowance".
