Anyone applying MPH/MD to Tufts? I submitted my MD app a little bit ago but I don't know what to do with the MPH essays. My thoughts on why I want to apply MPH/MD are detailed but quite short (MPH essay length is 3000 characters vs. the MD essay lengths of 1000 characters). Should I just leave it short or what?

I am in a similar situation, I was complete with my MD application back in August, and I have yet to complete the MPH portionyet...I guess I just feel a little overwhelmed as I feel my reasons for wanting the MPH should be pretty clear from the rest of my application. I guess I don't think it's a huge deal that it's not done yet because it says on the website that they won't consider your MPH application until you have been accepted by the MD program....

What's the motivation for doing an MD/MPH? Not as in, why do you want the MPH, but why do it through a combined program?

Wouldn't it be better to get an MPH in a combined residency or simply do it after Residency? (So that you get paid while pursuing it.)

I entered my MPH essay the same time as my MD app and I think it was the reason I got my interview. Looking at mdapps, of the people who have been offered interviews at Tufts, my stats are among the worst. My advice: Get the MPH portion of it done ASAP

Well I've heard that having the MPH actually makes you more competitive for residency, so perhaps that could be a reason....

Just curious, why do you feel like having your MPH portion done helped you? I thought they were pretty explicit that they don't really consider you for the MPH until you get through the MD process first....if it was so important to the admissions process, I guess I would hope they would make it clear that it really needs to get done ASAP (not just before January)...

All I am saying is that I didnt expect to get a shot at tufts with my stats, especially this early, and a possible difference maker in my application from the others is my legitimate MPH interest. Or, maybe something else in my application lookled decent, who knows

Yes, I want to get mine in very soon...if you don't mind, how long were yours? They give you 5000 characters but mine are nowhere near that long.

The first essay was 2,205 characters with spaces, the second was 2,370 characters with spaces. Good luck with your essays!
