As I value your opinions, I was wondering what you guys thought about the differences between Pittsburgh and Tulane. Tulane has generously offered a partial scholarship, whereas at Pitt I'd have to pay the whole deal. But besides the financial considerations, and BESIDES the differences in the cities, what do you guys think about the 2 schools and how they compare?

Thank ya.

I think that Pitt is a better school. I am currently choosing between Maryland and Tulane, and trying to ignore the financial differences between the two, and I think that I have picked Maryland.
I think that Pitt will give you a better education and match you in a great residency. I have heard nothing but great things about the school, and really wish that I had applied there. I personally had a semi-weird vibe about Tulane, and the buidings were very old and cramped, besides the school is in a horrible neighborhood. But everyone forms their own impressions.
Good luck with your decision and let us know what you choose (go to pitt!)

Oh, and here is the match list for Tulane if that will help you out at all. I was very impressed with where many of the graduates went.

Hey locitamd-
How was your interview at Tulane? What did you think? I thought the students and faculty that I met were great.
As for Tulane being in a bad neighborhood- it wasn't that bad. At least during the day you could walk around w/o feeling threatened. And later that night I ended up walking through the area again, w/o problems. You wanna see a bad neighborhood, go to Temple.

Hey UCSFreak -
Thanks for asking about the interview; I actually had a fantastic time while I was down there. I loved Dr. Pisano, and my interviewer was incredibly kind and endearing. Unfortunately however, my interview coincided with spring break, so I didn't get to see many students or get a real feel for the school. If however, the students are anything like those that interviewed with me that day, then the school is fantastic. After the interview, a few of us went for drinks together at that bar right behind the school (what's it called? Jake's?) and then later on in the evening we walked the city, dined, drank on Bourbon and then went to a jazz club on the outskirts. Alright, I know this is more than you wanted to know, but it really was alot of fun.

And as for being in a bad neighborhood, (well as you put it) I'm in Philly now, so I feel ya on the Temple front.

What's going on w/you? Come to any conclusions yet?
