I have been accepted to Touro-Nevada and am currently waitlisted at Touro-CA. I received the waitlist email update saying we only have 24 hours to accept if we were to have a seat in the class, so I want to be prepared to make a decision if the email were to come.
I don't mind going to either school and comparing the match list of both, they are pretty similar. My goal is to practice in Southern California for residency, and I am hoping to go to a school that can increase my chances.
In terms of reputation, I've spoken to MDs and they don't think there is a difference between the two and they wouldn't know the difference of which touro you go to. Also the students I met from both schools seem to have a wonderful time and experience at both.
My decision goes to more of how much if at all is one school better than the other? The way I see it is Nevada has a slightly lower cost of living and better transportation to and from Los Angeles if need be (close to airport, easy to drive in, no traffic). However, Touro-CA has a better established school that is older and they do have a slight edge on how many of their graduates stay in California for residency? The 2018 Match List for both were competitive in my opinion which makes the decision harder. It's a really hard decision if I even get off the waitlist and I would love to hear any opinions about the pros and cons of the school.
