hurrah, hawaii?
hmm, anyway, i like jabsom. it is fun here. we have a glorious commie system where everyone teaches everyone else and everyone shares notes and we're one big happy family. seriously. although i hear that only lasts for the first two years. i'm a first-year.
pbl is very high retention (memory retention, i dunno anything about student retention). i personally would have died in any lecture-based med skool because i don't study until right before tests, but in pbl, you are learning at least 1/5 of the material really well (because you have to teach it to the 4 people in your group) and then you learn it from your peers which is kinda cute.
it's hard to know the breadth/depth of your studying, but the school tells us that all med students across the united states have that problem. maybe it's more of a problem with pbl... i dunno, i just look at some board-review books and see what they cover, then try to learn at that level.
i'm probably a bad person to ask because i've only been through three months of this and this was our easier unit (i think the class average for the final exam last year was 90%) and i hear that next unit, they're going to pick up the pace and work us and it will be ridiculous compared to this semester.
i will report back when i am disillusioned.
