For those that interviewed at UW, what did your on-line status say once a decision was made? Did it say that you were placed on the waiting list? That a decision had been made? Thanks for the input.

I think the only thing it will ever say is

"Action was taken on your application (DATE). You should receive a letter from our office by (DATE)."

I was waitlisted and my status still says this (with some old dates). Best of luck...

I've a feeling they're sending out the final decisions today (Friday). But that's just my hunch.

Last year, my rejection letter came on Saturday (I think it was sent out on Friday), only it was a week before this week.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

I applied from out of state. I called this week. She said they were printing out their decisions as we spoke. The letters are sent this week and she said to expect to receive the letter next week. I asked if she could tell me the decision over the phone, and she said she could not. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I interviewed in December and my status page just changed to the "action was taken on your application...blah blah blah....you'll hear by blah blah blah..." message.

I'm trying not to read too much into it, but seeing as UW finished interviewing March 15, and by March 29 they had to give out enough acceptances to fill their incoming class, I wonder if those of us who got notification that a decision was made this week will end up waitlisted or rejected.....

Sorry for the not-so-positive note! Good luck, everyone.

Thanks for responding guys - yesterday my on-line status changed to "a decision has been taken on your application", so I didn't know what to think. I guess I'll find out by April 11. Good luck to the rest of you. :)

After I interviewed, they told me I will probably be placed on waitlist until early April automatically because I'm from out of state. They said in early April, they will give me a final decision, accept or reject. That is what I remembered they told me, and it seems like they're keeping their word, unlike schools like USC.

Shakmadeek, when did you interview?

Shakmadeek, what does your on-line status say? Mine simply says that a decision has been made on my application and that I should be hearing from them by April 11. Btw, I'm also an out of stater.

I can check if you give me the website address. I didnt check the website status because they told me what they planned and when I called them, they told me again what is going on. I figured after they told me all this, the only thing i wanted to know was accept/reject, which the website will not provide. Give me the address and I'll check.

your personal identification # is the 1st 2 letters of your last name followed by the last 7 numbers of your social security #

"Action was taken on your application 04/04/2002. You should receive a letter from our office by 04/11/2002."
That's what they told me right after my interview. Supposively, they said it's either accept/reject (maybe this is for out of state people but I'm not sure how they're doing no waitlist). Good luck to you all.

I just called Pat Fiero about my status - it's a rejection. According to her, most out of staters will either be accepted or rejected, with a very, very few amount placed on the waitlist (or alternate list) pool.

Dang, that sucks. So we can call and ask? How were you able to ask, because when I did, the person didnt tell me.

Okay guys... If you're in Seattle, I'm almost sure you'll get your letter on Saturday. Maybe Monday elsewhere in WA. I wish everyone the very best. Let's all huddle together in our spirits and hope for the best... And remember, if you get on the alternate list, you're sitting pretty. :D

I just called, and they said they cant give me that info over the phone, but will receive the letter in the next couple of days. I dont know, just hope for the best for everyone over the weekend i guess. sorry about your decision aesculapian.

I think it might depend on who you talk to, because I got my final decision over the phone, after I saw the status check say a final decision was made and before I received the letter in the mail (I am impatient! :D )

hey jed, with that smile on your face, i'm assuming you got accepted?

Hi guys, I just got my rejection letter. Pretty devastated. I was rejected last year and this past year I did everything Dr. Werner told me to do to improve my chances for this year. Well, all for naught...

Anyways, best of luck to others. Please share your news.

A good friend of mine got a reject today, too, and I was shocked. She had a 3.8+ GPA and MCAT 35-36 plus good research. She didn't evn make the waitlist. Could any of you who were accepted share your qualifications with us. Maybe I can console her that the competition was just too tough this year! Anyway, congrats to those who made it. You'll be paying a lot less than a lot of us!!

I was rejected, but I'll share my qualifications anyways, to give you a reference point.

30 mcat / 3.6 undergrad / 3.8 postbac
ton of clinical experience
more than a year of research
previously an engineer
2nd-time applicant

Ouch. I had heard that they were kinder the second time around. Guess it isn't so. My condolences. I hope you're going someplace else and will love it, where ever it is.

Are you guys from the state of Washington? I am from outside of Washington and the five states U Wash usually accepts. I didnt receive anything today, and will update if I do. Sorry to hear about your decisions.

Thanks, whoanelly. I had heard also that they look favorably upon reapplicants, but apparently it didn't work out for me. What really sucks is that they seem to give huge weight to the interview performance, which is basically how poised and articulate you are in response to tough controversial questions. I made enormous sacrifices (that I won't get into here) specifically for UW and worked my butt off to get in there. But I believe my fate was sealed with my fumbling interview performance last fall.

Good luck! And remember, an alternate spot is very good, too.

Shak- nope, I got rejected!!! I was pretty disappointed but not surprised though. I'm just grinning to add some smiles to this thread.

Whoanelly, i like your name!

Dang, everyone is gettin rejected. I'm so scared now. I did horribly at the interview. Ok, not horrible, but ok. They asked me very difficult questions that I did not anticipate, since I had like 4 kick back interviews before. I'm screwed. Well, I'll let you guys know wussup with my decision later this week. I'm very nervous.

I think they really scrutinize their applicants by giving hard interviews (which they're known for) and placing a big emphasis on it. It was the hardest interview I had this year. They kind of caught me off guard with two convoluted ethical questions and the impending quid pro quo. To top it off, one of my interviewers had a distracting patch on his eye which made me feel a little uncomfortable. Overall it went okay, but not exceptional. I guess if you can pass their litmus test with flying colors, you're in. My two cents.

Good luck Shak! If it's any consolation IF it is bad news, they really do only accept very few students out of state. At least that's what I was told...
I was just flattered and happy to be able to interview there in the first place!!! :p

Thanks jed. I'll post up my result, although now that I hear of this I'm quite sure I wont receive an acceptance since my interview was not that great. I was completely caught off guard as well. Wished I knew that info. I would've been a little more prepared. Well, I'll still let you know of my bad news when I receive it.

I'm sad to read about everyone's rejections. :(
I'm waiting for my rejection to arrive in the mail as we speak!
In all seriousness, I wonder if there's anyone out there who interviewed and has a status check that doesn't say anything about "action taken on the application?" OR if there's anyone out there who interviewed, had his/her status change on 4/4/02, and received or will receive an acceptance?

Anyways, I wish the best for all of you in the future. May you all have the opportunity to turn down UW residencies for something better! :D :p
