I got rejected at northwestern and got an interview at wisconsin. I spoke with some candidates that went to wisc on their first interview date and they thought really highly of the program and were told that the program should be off of probation by the end of this month. They were probably stellar (based on their other interviews and schools) candidates so they still seem to attract top people. There's a thread from last year if you look about all of the programs in chitown which basically said all had +/-....read it for yourself, I thought it was pretty revealing. So for me, if I actually HAD the choice wisc is a no brainer...but I'm content in small towns.
