  1. Attending Physician
i have just interviewed at UAMS (university of arkansas...) It seemed all fine and good, but i have some reservations about it. if anyone is familiar with this medical center and programs within, i would love to have your insight.

1. university-based program. had some things going for it, like full EMR and well-organized clinics. this residents seemed competent and happy. however, we all know how fam med residents can be treated at university-based programs and end up getting all the "leftovers." is this true here? how is the program's training versus other programs?

2. late and disorganized with getting to me about an interview. i applied to 15 residencies and got interviews to all of them within a few days of submitting my application. this program took months. i am wondering why? was it me? is it the fact that they have a new coordinator? is this a problem?

3. only one resident is a US medical grad. let me preface this by saying i have absolutely nothing against IMG's. all IMG's that i have interviewed with were lovely and i am sure a pleasure to work with. i also understand that by fam med will naturally have more international applicants than other specialties just because of the number of programs. that being said, it was a little stange that greater than 80% were IMG's. This programs fills in the match every year...just with IMG's. I am wondering if its just the location of the residency (little rock) or the fact that word of mouth has spread to a particular medical school in india and they all seem to like this program. i am perplexed.

normally, i would not have considered a university-based fam med program, but i have some interesting circumstances personally and need to be a little more "geographically" available.

i appreciate ANY help.
