UC Irvine Acceptance - Waitlist movement

Just wanted to let people know that the waitlist is moving!

I was placed on the alternate list at the end of April. Today I received a letter stating I had been admitted. It was dated May 15th.

So I guess there is definitely movement. I am 99% sure I will be turning down UCI for Columbia.

Any suggestions on that? Should I even wait for financial aid? I don't have a chance of getting any real good scholarships do I since I was taken off the waitlist right?

The question is, would you go to UCI for free over Columbia for 15K a year??? I'm guessing that you would still choose Columbia. I know I would, at least over Irvine. I don't think OC is worth it.
I would say hold the acceptance until they can tell you what your fin aid would be.

yeh scoob's gonna get a load of aid so he'd only be paying $5k more/ year. that's worth it to be in columbia IMO.

even though you are probably not going there Scooby.. congrats!! Don't just withdrawl.. reject them, reject them good >:]

Scoob did you write a letter of interest to UCI after you were placed on the alternate list, or did you sit back and do nothing? Just asking since I was also placed on the alternate list a couple weeks ago and have not submitted anything yet. Do you guys suggest I write a letter of interst at this point?

I did not write anything. I was placed on the alternate list about a few weeks ago though. I will most likely be withdrawing so the spot will soon open up

Did Irvine Wailisters know that the list was going to move soon or is this a surprise?

I haven't been following the UCI thread but I would assume the waitlisted extracted all info on timing of the waitlist.
