ive been pending review for a couple weeks now.
 
I'm guessing "pending review" will change to "under review" at some point???

Can anyone confirm this?
 
side question for those complete at UC irvine...

after everything was received by UC irvine (supplemental app, fee, letters), was your application complete immediately? or did it take time for it to get marked complete? i had an issue with my LORS that was finally resolved and im just wondering if they might have forgot to mark my application as complete or if it takes time to do so.

Took them a whopping...............................(drum roll).................................

2 days for them to process everything and mark me as "complete"

Pretty fast I'd have to say!

It never says "under review." Unless they've changed it since last year. It says "Pending review" then it will either say "Hold for interview" or "Interview Offered"

You can stay in Pending review for a really long time though, so be patient.

If you're worried about something feel free to call - the ladies in the adcomm office are SUPER sweet. I wouldn't worry too much if you've been complete and it hasn't changed yet - I think they just had their first meeting last Thursday and from what I saw I got the impression it was more to establish their timeline and talk about the process than the actually review files.

Boo 🙁 I've finally gotten to the point where most of my secondaries have been submitted and now I'm just waiting (which many people have been doing for a while). Ah well, what can I do... hope this turns out well!

Yeah all you can do is wait and not lose hope. A guy at my UCI interview last year had been complete since early August and had called the day before the interview day (late April) to ask about his status and had been offered an interview in place of someone who cancelled. So that was what - 8 months of "pending review." Just don't lose hope and DEFINITELY show interest with UCI.
 
I still haven't received a secondary from them and they are my first choice. I have a 30 MCAT, 3.95 gpa so I thought I should at least get a secondary. I was waiting to send them a letter of interest telling them why I am so interested in their school. Do you think it would be worth it to send that letter now? I was hoping they were waiting to send a bunch of secondaries in a batch, but I am starting to get a little worried. My status still says "pending review" and my AMCAS was verified 7/10 (or around there). Any advice you guys can offer is much appreciated.
 
Anyone get a secondary from UCI or any of the other UCs (other than UCSD) before their MCAT scores came out?
 
I checked my UCI status just for the heck of it. It says "decision pending" under interview status. What does that mean?

i go there and I haven't gotten a secondary yet either =(... but my stats aren't as top notch as yours either 🙁
 
Checked status on UC Irvine page...*sigh*....it said interview denied...this makes me want to cry...the day is so long.... 🙁

Are you IS or OOS? Stats? I am assuming post secondary.

IS, 3.48, and 32Q......yeah...wasn't stellar but still hurts....can't believe the poster above me got denied though...

Hey,

You guys may want to call the office and find out if you're actually denied. I have never heard of Irvine denying this early. Last year they either put you on hold or you stayed pending review and then after their class started they really started rejecting people.

Last Feb my status changed to denied, then in April I got an interview. I thought it was pretty amusing that they had rejected me and THEN given me an interview (and ultimately accepted me). But I found out from a classmate about a week ago that a lot of people had been changed to denied because of a computer error. I was never actually denied.

So call, I'm betting its a mistake. Maybe its supposed to be on hold instead? Which is definitely better - you can get accepted from a hold.

Or perhaps you could ask, "Does my status mean that I have been denied admissions to your school? Or, am I denied an interview at this point with the possibility of receiving an interview later in the season?"

"I heard there was a glitch in the computer system last year regarding admissions status and I just received a 'DENIED' notification, could you check to see if this is accurate"

bummer. I can't believe so soon! I wonder if I'm going to get denied soon pre secondary 🙁

for those who got interview, were the only dates offered to you 9/24 and 10/9? I'd prefer a different date.
 
bumping with the hope of someone telling me what interview dates they were offered. I only got 2 options and they both are not that good.

when were you complete and when did you get the invite?

Says complete on 9/7, although my everything was received by 8/29. I got the invite a couple days ago.
 
Mine is still pending too. I got the very last interview day last year, followed by alternate list. I hope I get an early interview this year 🙂
 
yes, only 9/24 and 10/9 were offered. they usually interview once every two weeks, so i'm guessing those are their first two interview dates for this cycle. you might be able to call and ask for the next one.
 
Haha..wow it says interview denied. I just gave them 60 and poured my heart and soul into a secondary because it was my first choice. And I'm from CA. Talk about California's state university system! I got interviews at Pittsburgh and 7 other schools but UCI was more than eager to reject me. And all this time I thought they actually read secondaries....well, bye bye california for me. Don't lose hope people!

My interview stats this morning was "AWARDED" now change to "Scheduled"
with a date.

I called UCI the other day to find out what's been happening w/ my file...essentially i was told my file is in the "regular" category, as opposed to the "stellar" group, and that i would be waiting until all the stellars were reviewed/interviewed. Then, they'll go back to re-review my file, at which point they'll be looking for something great/new/updated about your app b/c they want you to stand out among all the other pre-meds...

well, guess what...i work full-time, volunteer on weekends...i'm sorry I can't afford to quit my job and shadow doc's all day just to have a 1-up on my app!!!!! 😡

sorry...i was just really disappointed...UCI is a great school, but it seems i may not get a chance to attend

how's everyone else's app going?

I've been complete and "pending review" for 4 months now. I called at the beginning of December and was told that my file was out of the office for review and that I should be hearing something in about a week. Clearly that didn't happen 🙁 I might call again...

Good luck to you - maybe it will still work out with UCI for you!

Hmmmm, I called them mid-December since I'd been pending review for a few months. I was told that due to the complete and total lateness of my application, being one of the last ones to turn in my secondary, it would just take a while for them to get to me. And then I logged on to SDN the same day and noticed someone who was complete a month after me get an interview invite. Hmmmm, I must regular, and that person must be stellar. I didn't save any starving babies or cure a disease over Christmas break, so I'll likely remain regular 😳 Bye bye state schools, hello cold weather and out of state tuition......

That doesn't mean you don't have a chance. I worked 2 jobs (one full-time one part-time) and did volunteer work last year and still had a chance to update them with things on my application.

I got more responsibility in my volunteer position, I took on the 2nd job, I got a book and started teaching myself medical Spanish. Plus you can always just update them with a letter with a couple of new/improved things plus a bunch of reasons why they should want you. Shadowing docs wouldn't do much for you - think of something else even if its small or in your own time.

Lynn was just trying to tell you what you need to do to get in. Don't be so negative and just find a way to do it. Would you rather she not tell you to improve your app and then you never know why you didn't get in?

Yeah, I was reviewed as "regular" also. It was hard to hear, but I really appreciate them taking the time to tell me what's going on an what I can do about it! Maybe the letter of interest I sent will do something...
