Hey guys,

I was just going over schools to apply to and saw that there is a seperate application for UC Berkeley an UCSF together--what is the deal? I thought only UCSF was the med school--what is going on with the UCB part of this deal.

Any info or links would be appreciated.

Hi MDBound,

The U.C. Berkeley application is for the joint MD/MPH program that UCSF Medical School offers. The master's in public health is completed at U.C. Berkeley across the bay while the MD is completed at UCSF.

While it is true that UCSF offers a combined MD/MPH they also have an MD program that spends two years at Berkeley for the basic sciences and 2 years at the UCSF hospitals for clinicals. It is a very small program (like 12 students or something) and really interesting...they have things like suitcase clinic and more flexible class schedules. Look into this option when you are applying. If you get a secondary, there is a separate one for the Berkeley program.
