Anyone else get the "Your application is officially on hold" we're going to make you wait until February email from Pritzker?

What a lovely way to start the day.

Awwww, I'm sorry. Its much better than getting a rejection in mid-August though (I feel one coming form UofChic for me) Congratulations I say!

I'd be HAPPY to receive that email, as far as I know all 30+ schools I applied to are just giving blank stares at my application. They should make these ad comms bigger and pay them more. We're paying so much for them to exist.

When were you complete at Pritzker?

My email is dated 8/14 so I'm curious...

I got the "Application Complete" on 8/12, and the hold email early this afternoon.

I guess this will make me step up a little and do my last three secondaries I've been putting off though

Good luck to ya'

BTW, I'm sure you've been asked this, but how (and why) are you managing 30 applications?!?! I have 14 and it seems like too many!

LOL let's see, here's my exact count and hopefully this excuses my current state of being COMPLETELY BURNED OUT AND UNABLE TO THINK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE!

29 (just added them up on my spreadsheet)

I guess I'm just waiting for UCLA, UPitt, and OHSU if they send me one.... I mean, I didn't overanalyze secondary essay questions, everything they need to know about me was on my AMCAS so I just elaborated a bit and threw them in a manilla envelope. I need a vacation though before interviews, unfortunately that's not possible 🙁

Oh the why part, I can't imagine what I would do next year if I didn't get in, I really don't want to do this twice, and I have some flaws on my apps such as a C+ in a bio class, ave. verbal score, not many hard sciences beyond the requirments, etc.

Here is what Pritzker posted on the website:

About 2800 people actually completed the secondary each year. Of these, about 400 were granted interviews after the first review, and about 200 were placed on hold until the second review, and 50 people will eventually get an interview.

From what I heard, even very qualified people can be put on hold this early in the cycle, so I wouldn't feel terrible about it as long as it's not a rejection.

Hey Jonkst, keep your head up, I too just got the "hold email." I was kinda pissed at first, since this is my first non-interview notification, but then I figured that it's much better to be one of the 200 on hold then one of the 2200 that gets flat out rejected.

Serves me right for bull****ing so much on those essays. 😉

Best of luck to ya,

deez

Exactly, people like me who probably have the letter in the mail, you still have at least a 25% chance at getting an interview right?

Congrats.

Doh, I was completed on 8/12 too. Now I'm going to worry every time I have new E-Mail 😛

great....i was also complete on 8/12 and no email which probably means i will be receiving a rejection in the mail without email notification

Geez, sorry to get you guys worked up! I haven't heard of many people getting interviews, so it could be that one too. Although I kinda agree with what Dr.Kev said, and would rather take my rejection now than in february

For what it's worth, I got an email from Pritzker saying I was complete on 8/14. Dunno if that's a good or bad thing. Hopefully you guys will be getting interview emails in the near future.

My letter of completion was emailed on 8/12
My letter of interview was emailed on 8/18

The interview email was simply titled "The Pritzker School of Medicine", so they may use the same title for putting people on hold and rejecting people as well.

For those on hold: Think about it: you were not rejected right away, so you still have the chance. Plus you benefit from applying early, cause you probably have multiple chances to be re-reviewed.

Do they reject straight out, or do they either offer interview or hold first, then reject?

I too got the "on hold" email this afternoon. Kinda sucks... but I guess it is better then "dude, we just jacked $75 from ya".

They said for about 2800 people who completed the secondary each year, about 2200 is flat out rejection.

400 people are offered interview after the first review, about 200 people are placed on hold for a second review. Out of the later group, about 50 people eventually get an interview.

However, elsewhere on the website, it mentioned it interviewed 550 people last year. The numbers don't really match up, but if you're "on hold", at least you still have a chance for interview.

Thanks. And sorry for making you repeat info that was previously posted on this thread. I didn't read the whole thing til now. You're a good sport!🙂
