Ok, so I got a 5 on the AP chem exam and placed out of the first-semester general chemistry. I took quantitative chem (1 semester) and organic chem (2 semesters). My school gave me credit for AP chem, though, so I have 4 semesters of chemistry credit. If I wanted to go to UCLA (or some other school that's anal about this), would I have to go back and now retake first-semester general chem? Because that would be really, really stupid.

For UCLA, you will have to take g chem over. We have a series here you can't pass out of with APs. You can actually look at this in a positive light. If you got a 5, that means a good amount of g chem will be review, which means you will likely do well in the class. And to be perfectly honest, you would not want to jump into organic with a high school AP background. That would put you at quite a disadvantage.

Then again, I got a 5 and i didn't do too hot in the chem series. That's just me though. I don't know how I got that 5 to begin with.

I had to take a full year of calc in one semester because differential equations will not fulfill the math requirement. It sucks, but that's life. Then the worst part is you can't do them at a community college cause it looks really bad, so I had to drop 8g's just two take those classes...Easy A's though.

Since you're so far along I doubt you will have to take a quarter of G-chem. I would call the school and check.
