Does anyone know how much housing usually runs around the UCLA campus. I was told a lot of students lived pretty close by but the area seems really expensive.

Also, someone told me that there were university apartments available that were decent... anyone have any information about this?

the prices for one bedrooms in westwood is about 1100-1500.
there is ucla housing that is easy to get if you can live with a roommate (and very cheap, like 600-close to UCLA campus) but studios and one bedrooms in the graduate housing are more difficult to secure (but doable) and run 850-1000 with mostly everything included. if you are married you can get ULCA housing more easliy.

Hey-
I'm an intern at UCLA right now - my apartment in Westwood is 1250 for a loft. It was completely remodeled inside when I moved in. I've got friends who are paying alot less.
There are alot of adjacent areas that would probably be more fun for a single person, and cheaper as well. These include Santa Monica, Venice, and Hollywood. Bottom line is that LA is expensive, but just like SF, there are great apartments that you can afford if you look for them.

Arrhythmia, when do recommend starting your apt search? I'll be coming to SoCal as a PGY-2 in, but will be struggling through ICU and wards my last two months of internship in NorCal.... Was planning to do the craigslist/ucla housing website searches and keep my fingers crossed. Any input appreciated.
