I'd like insight on these schools with regard to both their medicine and research opportunities for M.D. program(have not been accepted to an MSTP program). Thanks for your input!​

Did you apply and get into the PSTP or CSTP program at Pitt? Those programs sound like they'll give you a pretty solid training in academic specifics, like grant writing, critique and analysis of scientific literature, etc. That, plus the financial incentive for PSTP, would be hard to pass up.

I am not sure if UCLA has this type of programs in place... I know UCLA has a great reputation in research, but you should also take into account that being a large public university, that won't necessarily translate into better training. You'll have to put a lot of effort into seeking and taking advantage of the opportunities that do exist. Being accepted to pitt –but not having had first hand experience– it sounds to me like they take it upon themselves to facilitate access to the resources they have...

Just something to think about...
