I have an interview at U conn coming up in two weeks. Anyone been there already and wants to share thier experience? Any out of staters getting interviews?

I am OOS and interviewed there this past week. The interviewers were all very friendly and it was very low stress. There are 3 interviewes however, 2 faculty, 1 med student. I was VERY impressed with UConn, the facilities are relatively new, but what impressed me most were the faculty and students. I have a friend attending there now that I stayed with. Everyone I met was very friendly/helpful. I even got a ride back to the airport, saved me a huge cab fare. The area really isn't so bad, kinda reminds me of Charlottesville in terms of restaurants, etc and Hartford is close which gives you great clinical opportunities. UConn def moved way up on my list. I only hope they don't hold the OOS thing against me too much. Best of luck on your interview.

thanks for your reply Dakota. They're rolling so Good luck! I'm going to stay with a student as well, it's always better (and cheaper)and you really do feel more relaxed and more a part of the place... Hartford is close by, but I hear you need a car there since Farmington doesnt have too much going on (is there really no gym on campus?)
Well I'm OOS too. I'm glad to hear it was a great experience for you. From what i hear so far sounds like i'd like it a lot too...we'll see how it goes.🙂

Yeah, basically Farmington is just the medical center and yes, since you are no where near the undergrad campus there is no gym for students to use (altho some local gyms give discounts). There isn't a campus that you feel connected to, but even at a place like UVa (which def has "grounds" as we say, too cool to call it a campus apparently) I'm not sure how connected the med students feel to the u-grads, so not sure that it's a minus. West Hartford is like 2 minutes away and is pretty nice. To get to all the affiliated hospitals you will need a car.

The staff tried really hard to sell the place, and I must admit for me it worked. Best of luck on the interview.

could you two not take my spot, thanks, i'd appreciate that
