Well this is it - the 15th of the month and Decision Day for many of us who interviewed at UCSF. Good luck to everyone who interviewed! I know I'll be checking my mailbox like a junkie for the next couple days...

Is it true that today was a UCLA D-day too? Someone had mentioned that on another thread (that LA would also be sending out their first round of acceptances today)
Good luck to you!! I know that I will be reverting to my October ways (when I was chasing the mail lady around in the hopes that she would have my MCAT scores)

yeah me too, but i interviewed a week before xmas, so my D day probably won't come until feb. or march.

I called this morning. The lady in the office told me that they weren't sending out acceptances until the middle of next week.

UCLA - is that for SF?? I just called UCLA and they told me that they won't be sending out anything until Feb., but that originally they had hoped to send some out this week 🙁 Bummer.....

anyone know if they send out an email at the same time as the acceptance letter is mailed like other schools?

I could be mistaken, but I believe UCSF only sends out the acceptances via snail mail.

Jessica this entire post is about UCSF..so yes I'm referring to it in my post.

In case you missed it, I asked a question about UCLA's decision date earlier in THIS thread. I was just trying to clarify, but thanks for biting my head off 🙂

I called the admissions office at UCSF today and the person I spoke with confirmed that no acceptances were sent out on the 15th. They will be going out sometime next week she said. And so, the waiting continues...

It makes me wish that all schools used email to notify accepted applicants.

My mailbox is still empty. Please post if you do receive the Golden Ticket from UCSF.

No problem Jessica that's what I'm here for! BTW Don't expect to hear from UCLA until Feb. they had their first admissions meeting last Friday. It usually takes a few weeks to process.

Does anyone know if UCSF has started to send out rejection/waitlist letters yet? They said that they would start in the beginning of January when I interviewed in mid-november.

From my understanding of other posts, their committee met on the 15th, and decided our fates. Acceptances are sent out mid-month and rejections and wait lists on the 1st of each month. Your application was probably considered 1/15/02, so you should hear either way soon. Or maybe you'll find out 2/15/02. I interviewed on 11/5/01, so I'm also waiting to hear.

I think that the committee meets not only on the 15th. When i was there waiting for my interview, they (the commitee) were in the meeting as I was sitting in the room, and somebody brought out a file they have just deliberated on, and it was an 'accept'. I think the way it works, is they decide on people gradually, not in one day, as written evaluations/reports from interviewees become available, and then on the 15th they send out the notices. This is just a guess.

Hmm, you didn't happen to see if it was my name on that accept, did you? 🙄
just kiddin' 🙂

Sure, the letter read something like this:
It is our greatest pleasure to inform you, the Wahoo, that you are granted a seat in the 2002 entering class. Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,
UCSF Admissions

so nobody thought my reply was funny? Oh well, i have attention deficit apparently.
Now seriously, lets keep this thread alive for all of the anxious UCSF-ers.
This is what I did to manage anxiety:
1) signed up for 2 dance classes (really helps!)
2) taking 2 'real' classes for fun/personal interest
3) other interviews
4) EMT course (always wanted to do, but no time)
5)work (ha ha!)
6) walking on the beach and looking at surfer guys <img src="graemlins/lovey.gif" border="0" alt="[Lovey]" />
7) Got a PO box so its harder to maintain obsessive behavior to check mail (difficult access).
I am trying to stay as busy as possible to get my mind off UCSF. What are you guys doing?
Off to my next interview tomorrow...
Love,
lady

You were kidding? I didn't reply because I spent the past 24 hours partying and celebrating my acceptance... siiiigh.
😉

So...I take it no one has heard anything at all?

nothing for me yet. still checking my mailbox like a fiend. (a sneaky way to bump this 🙂

I just called and the lady told me that I have to wait until they contact me. Did not give out any other info, but double checked my address. (Bump)

I called today and the lady at the admission office first said that some might be mailed out today and then said sometime this week. So even if they were mailed out today we have at least a couple more days to wait.

Is this irritating anyone else? I really like UCSF, but what the hell are they waiting for? It seems pretty inconsiderate. I have this image of all these files, already accepted by the admissions committee, sitting on the secretary's desk while he or she is chatting away on AOL instant messenger. Grrrrrr.....

I called the admissions office today... They sent out acceptances today, but that's it. So, I'll be crossing my fingers to get some mail from them this weekend!

Have any of you been put on hold for an interview? That's where I stand with UCSF, and wonder how long I'll have to wait for a chance to actually interview.

Wahoo they sent out acceptances today? I called them this morning and they said that they'd be sending them out later this week...weird.

That's what she told me... she said acceptances today, everything else later. But, it seems like they've been having a hard time keeping their story straight (judging from yours and earlier posts). I wonder why they're being so mysterious (and late) about this.

so one person has posted that they heard today...has anyone else heard?!

I, too, got the 'big' envelope in the mail today. I still can't believe it--I'm in complete shock! Dreams really do come true folks...

Paisley!

Congratulations! You deserve it!

Congratulations!!!!!!

I called just now and the lady in the office said that all January acceptances went out on the 23rd, not 22. She also said that "all other dispositions" will go out in a "couple of weeks" whatever the hell that means. I live in SF and got nothing yesterday, but again its too early (only 4 weeks post-interview) for me. Or maybe i'll end up in 'other dispositions' file? This is waiting is killing me!!
Patience pays off. Paisley and figure five--CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

This is killing me. I'm at work until 4 pm and am waiting to rush home to check my mailbox (for what will likely be an empty mailbox). I interviewed 11/5/01, and it seems like an eternity. Best of luck to all! May your mailboxes be filled with good news.

What did I tell you?? It must have been that knee of yours that got you in. You can pay me for services rendered at a later time. Congrats, paisley!!!

I GOT IN!!! My mailbox never looked sexier than with that big envelope in it. Good luck to those still waiting.

For reference: I interviewed 11/5 and live in LA.

Congratulations to all who have already received the big envelope. I'm still patiently (actually, more like anxiously) watiting...Good luck everyone.
-Dr. Happy 🙂

Congrats figure five and paisley! Hope to see you next year. Email if you need anything/have questions. Good luck to all!

--Becky

Congrats to all of you who got accepted!
If I interviewed in mid-November and I haven't received an admit letter in January, does this mean that I'm on the wait list/rejected list, or can I still get in during the Februaury/March cycles?

Hey bomback,
I don't know how to answer you, I wish I could, but only UCSF knows for sure. I interviewed late december and haven't heard anything. Who knows? In your case, it might be that your interviewers submitted their reports super-late (it does happen!) and they just have not gotten to your file. I'd say, don't make any assumptions yet. Yes, it might be that you are waitlisted, but hey, judging from the recent posts, there has been only a limited number of acceptances recently, so don't give up hope yet!

Congrats figure five and paisley!! I too came home last night to find a hefty envelope residing in my mailbox (I was sure that I was hallucinating for a while, that thing has been empty for so LONG... but this sure is a nice way to turn that trend around!!) BTW -I interviewed on 11/28.

Congrats, Jessica! I knew you'd get in. 🙂

Becky! Was it something I said? Did I offend you somehow? (sniff, sniff) I got in, too! Can I email you, also?!

PB 😉

Congrats PB - I didn't mean to leave out a future classmate (that is, if you decide to pass on SD)!! 😀 and I am sure that Becky has no hard feelings against you either 😉

Thanks Becky!! It was great to meet you (after all, you and Vader are the idols of all SDN UCSF hopefuls), and your advice and hospitality made the whole interview experience sooo wonderful.

Congrats to all who got in! I am so envious! I'm still waiting anxiously by my mailbox...

I actually have the same question as Bomback. Does anyone have an idea as to what the status is for all the rest who didn't get an acceptance? When I was at SF (near the end of Nov) I was under the impression that a decision was made on your file as an acceptance/waitlist/rejection within 8 weeks...but is there still a chance of acceptance with the next round??

Hey Pillbug - when I was there they said anywhere from 8-12 weeks, so I am under the impression that you are still in the game for the next round in Feb. Good luck!!

This is so fun! Congrats everyone 😀
